How to change component materials in 3D Block

Hello,

 

I am a new user of chief architect and have a question about changing materials on the same 3D block. When I open the object and select the materials tab - it isn't allowing me to choose different components of the bookcase to edit it's material. I am hoping to edit different parts of the bookshelf and select materials based off of the actual version of this bookcase. Is there a way to explode the block so that I could tap into each portion of the object and select it's material without having to build the object myself? 

 

If it helps - I downloaded the 3D file directly from the vendors website.

That's all baked into the 3D Model, nothing you can do to change that in CA.

Might be able to change it in some 3D modeling software but I don't know much about that stuff.

Which vendor and what file type? You might be able to edit it in Sketchup first.
