Good morning,

The time has come to retire my 8 year old system for a fresh new machine.

I’ve narrowed it down to this Alienware and would appreciate any insights, positive or negative anyone would be willing to share.

I’m an SSA subscriber and always running the latest updates.

(I left the old profile info for where I’m at now)

I thank you in advance for whatever you have to offer.

Toby

I just put this rig into service from the Dell Outlet, good price. Get a salesman to chat with you, they'll negotiate.

Dell XPS 8960

32GB (1X32GB) Up to 5600MHz DDR5 UDIMM Non-ECC
2 -1TB PCIe M.2 NVMe Gen 4 Class 40 SSD
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 12GB GDDR6X (FWIW, to me, the Ti is not worth the price increase for just a bit more performance)
750W L6 Chassis without Optical Drive (Platinum)
Core 14th Generation i7-14700 Processor
(20 Core, Up to 5.40GHz, 33MB Cache, 65W)
Windows 11 Pro

Very pleased so far from my previous computer of about 8 years of use. It was from the Dell Outlet as well.

Make sure you get enough solid-state hard drive size and number for your needs. I bought an Alien Aurora R12 a couple of years ago. Now I wished I had two SSHD slots allowing at least 4Tb each. I will get two slots next time for sure as that lets you move data quickly for upgrading and/or backup from one drive to the other.
