Columns in Walls?

I found the Column I want to use in Millwork under the Library Browser.  However, having difficulties placing inside wall.

Also, I'm shading the rooms with Fill-Color, however it's shading the electrical, and mechanical, these need to be blank, is there a layer for this?

Check the Column's DBX Tabs it maybe set to stop at walls ?

 

You should however be able to move it into the Wall with the Ctrl Key held down ( disables bumping )

Using the post option, which option in the drop down would be closest to a wall column?

Turn off Bumping/Pushing [Edit>Snap Settings>Bumping/Pushing], then try moving the column.

You will have to modify the Symbol's 2D CAD Block using the Edit CAD Block tool to give the bounding geometry a solid Fill Style.
