dmbarbee
I am using x15 and have drawn a soffit that covers the entire kitchen ceiling. I wanted to add a ventilation register on the soffit, but was not able to place it when I tried. The register placed on a regular wall, but not on the soffit. Is it possible to place items to soffits? I also attempted using the 3D Solid Tools feature, but I ran into the same problem, I was not able to place the vent. Attached are two images, one of my design, and the other is the inspiration.
ericepv
Using invisible walls, I created a room within a room with a ceiling height that is 12" lower than the main room. I then placed the vent as shown:
DBCooper
Quote Is it possible to place items to soffits? Yes, you can add electrical objects to soffits. So you could convert your vent into a wall mounted electrical object and then it would work. Not sure it's really worth the trouble though because if your vent is just a fixture you should be able to just place it in the plan and bump it against the soffit.
