usingchief
Ok... Just a real CA newby here. I've looked but cannot find so maybe some helpful soul will be so kind. So when drawing an interior or exterior wall, the temporary dimension shows in feet and inches. I would like it to show just inches. How do I do that? ArthurDent
Double click on the dimension tool. This will open up the current dimension defaults. Go to the primary format page. Change the units from feet-inches ('-") to inches (").
DerekPedersen
Hello, Open your defaults and expand the "dimensions" category. Then open "Dimensions" and click the "Edit" button. Select the "Primary Format" panel and change units to inches. Alternatively, If you are using the Premier version you change your Annotation Set to "NKBA Annotations" (this is a dropdown menu in your top tool bar). If you haven't already, there is a free "Quick Start" training class that will cover defaults in detail. Here is a link to the class. http://video.chiefarchitect.com/?search=quick+start You will also find hundreds of how-to videos here. http://video.chiefarchitect.com/ I hope this helps. DavidJPotter
You can also manually, dimension string by dimension string, open each string's dialog and manually change any string's attributes however you would like. I usually set my "Site Plan" dimensions to decimal feet, general dimensions to feet and inches and for cabinet elevations I set those to inches only, you just have to become familiar with where the settings are, what they do and what best works for your differing views and purposes.
