Ed_Orum
I drew a dwelling which is a slab on grade. Next, I drew railings around the building for a deck. I used the "straight deck railing" tool. The deck surface is also concrete. When I tried to change the deck surface height to be 5" below the top of the first floor, there is no room definition for the deck, and the deck seems to have inherited all its properties from the main building. How do I get the deck and building to be treated as separate entities? Thanks, Lane
DBCooper
Are you still on X13? If not, you should update your signature. Did you turn off auto connect for island rooms in your general wall defaults? If you did, then you need to draw a room divider to connect your deck railings to the building. Either that or turn auto connect back on. If that doesn't help, then it sounds like you have a room definition problem. You probably need to post the plan. Ed_Orum
Still on 13. Thanks, I will work on it some more, and if I can't get it I will post the plan. Lane
VHampton
Quote The deck surface is also concrete. Presumably, the slab elevation is literally less than one step above grade and therefore no rails will be involved. If that may be the case, why not try invisible walls and call the "room" a slab? It seems like there literally is no deck, but rather a patio.
Ed_Orum
I tried something similar, I am attaching the plan because I have another question. Lane
