window reveal - no casing

Hello Fellow Chiefers!

My client wants to see window and door reveals , but no casing.

Any tips on how to achieve this?

is it really necessary to show the reveal? I would charge the client extra if that were the case.
Off hand, easy way is to use material regions/backsplash tool to cut parent layer and set assembled thickness to an 1/8"

Ahh ... that is a good idea!  I'm charging hourly anyways!

I was toying with Niche tool ... but too cumbersome for each door and window.

Or a material region at each opening, use concentric to give 1/8 upsize, airgap material, 1/8 thick single layer, cuts into surface?

 

Aha!  It's 3/8 thick and cuts the 1/2 drywall.  Takes maybe 20 seconds per opening side.  Involved a CAD DETAIL FROM VIEW move to copy each window perimeter, then upsize by 1/8 concentrically, copy/paste-in-place in section or elevation, then the MR dialog.

 

I colored mine dark gray.

 

Anybody wanting the expense of this in a built job surely isn't going to balk at paying a Chiefer to model it in 3D, although it seems a folly to have it in on a screen just to see when there are photos of it all over Houzz.  You can trim in mahogany for the same cost of no casing plus reveal.
