NorthernPearlDS
Hey! Keep in mind I didn't set-up these drawings I am working on a file that was given to me. The original house had an attic with unused space, and the previous person drew walls on the attic layer. As we all know, this means that no rooms are defined, etc. I'm now trying to get the room sizes, room names to show up on the schedules, etc and for obvious reasons this won't work. Is there a way for me to change this attic layer to an actual floor layer without messing up the roof above?
DavidJPotter
By default when you draw a plan, you start on "Floor 1 <1>" which automatically adds an "Attic <A>" level. When you wish to conver the <A> Attic level to "Floor 2" so it can be used to add living space you go to your Build Roof Dialog and make sure "Auto Build Roofs" is OFF, then go to the "Build" Menu- Floor- Build new floor-Create new blank floor. This leaves the roofs bearing on the first floor so you can then manually create your attic space room additions. DJP
glennw
Adding to what Eric said. You can leave auto roofs toggled on (if it is building the roof correctly), and check Ignore Top (2nd) Floor in the Build Roof dbx after you have added the 2nd floor.
