Steve, Physically Based Rendering was added to Chief a couple of versions ago.. The intent I think is to address what you are experiencing, the wait for rendering passes. PBR is MUCH, MUCH faster (essentially live renders) than Ray-tracing with quality that is very close to better.. ONCE you figure it out.. Graham is excellent at it...
