Hi,

New to Chief Architect and a Mac Use with Version 2021.  I can't seem to find the Centerline Symbol in this program, yet when I google it, some videos show the symbol in Dimensions.  However, nothing is there for this symbol in this version.   Please advise.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!  We would very much appreciate it and you will be more successful in seeking assistance if you fill out your signature line.  There are many posts on how to do it if you need assistance.

To help you out I just wanted to mention the importance of using proper terminology as in this post many will have moved on and here is why.  You Say version 2021 which is indicative of the Home Designer Pro 2021 software by Chief Architect which is a very stripped down version of Chief Architect Premier x12 (which you show in your picture.)  Very concise and specific requests and screen shots like you did here are also very helpful in getting your answers.

Now to help answer your question here.  The icon above the tape measure that has the CL is the centerline dimension tool that if you have it set to snap to centers properly in your defaults OOB for the kitchen and bath saved plan view you will use nkba dimension defaults (currently you are in the working plan view instead of Kitchen and Bath).  This tool will snap to centers of cabinets or appliances/fixtures as needed, it will also snap to sides so you can edit exactly what you want to be called out with it.

My preferred method for placing freestanding refrigerators in a tall cabinet is to create a cabinet with an opening and manually place a refrigerator in that opening. This works great for me because I can place the refrigerator however I want in the cabinet. I often leave some space at the back as an allowance for the electrical and water lines.

The issue I am having is that the refrigerator symbol I place in the cabinet shows up on top of the cabinet symbol. I want the cabinet to show that the refrigerator has been placed inside of it. I don't really know if there's a way to edit the order of how symbols display, if there is how do I accomplish that? If there is not and you have the same issue, what do you do to fix it? I attached a photo to show how my refrigerators are displaying in relation to tall cabinets.

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone could help with some issues Im having with importing 3d symbols - I am trying to import some SKP files into chief (decor, people etc) and while some are coming in fine others are coming in with no texture/materials or the materials are not applied correctly (eg a symbol of a person the texture is placed wrong) - if someone could help me out with how to "lock" the material that would be super helpful. Thanks

first image is how it appears in sketchup and second how it imports into CA

Hey everyone, I was wondering if someone would be able to convert some 3D symbols I have into something I can import into chief.
I need some specific symbols for a design I am doing and an unable to figure out how to convert them (including their textures) into one of the formats chief will allow to be imported as a symbol. I have tried pulling the obj and fbx files into sketchup but they are missing the textures and these are quite complicated collections, too many textures to add back in one at at time. I only have a basic knowledge of sketchup and have a mac computer which doesn't support 3ds max (the only program i have come across to do this).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
They are big files so i can zip and email them if someone is willing to help.

      Thanks,
      Emily

How do you get the 2D symbols in the electrical legend to show up at the same size that they are in the plan (or a size that is desired)?  Is there a way to control the size of the 2D symbols in electrical legends?  The 2D symbols come in so large that they blow the legends right off the page.  If I scale the legend down, the text becomes illegible.

Building on the videos Eric (Solver) made recently...I did this video to show how you can construct a tapered paneled column in plan view, using p-solids and a molding polyline. It's a fast method...and the best part is you don't have to use a 3D molding polyline.

      Check it out....
