CRHDesign 1 Posted November 3, 2020 Is there a way of adjusting how the beams work by default? I always add a 2x6 plate on top of my steel beams (Fig. withplate) but adding a beam by default always works as Fig. noplate.
NRST8TRKR 28 Posted November 3, 2020 Add a plate to a beam then add that to your user library. Next time it is ready for use. Hope this helps. Have a great week, Ken

Have a great week, Ken Thanks Ken. Pulling the beam out of the library and then resizing it is more work than just dropping the beam manually and adding the plate though. joey_martin 365 Posted November 3, 2020 You are correct Ken..all the workarounds are more work than simply making sure your beam height is correct by default to account for the plate. I simply wait until time to work on framing plans and copy a sill plate...since all the relevant heights and widths are correct...and just paste them as needed and size. CRHDesign 1 Posted November 5, 2020 Yeah, it's frustrating to do sections because of all the little things that need to be fixed and have no way of setting up as a default. Currently, the easiest way to do it is to delete the beams out of the sections and just replace with my own saved CAD block, which seems counterproductive to the program functions.
