SeekingX5License
Does anyone have a license for X5 (32 bit) available? Am using an old machine with Windows XP (32 bit) and would like to install X5 Premier on it. Thanks for checking.
lbuttery
you can also check Ebay create a search and save it and you will get an email each time a sale starts to determine if it is a good price look at CA's upgrade cost and add that in then knock off about 20% to make it a deal otherwise it would be "better" to buy a new license for the latest version also add in $50 cost to transfer the license - transfer could be $400+ if the license is for a secondary seat or student etc whether you buy from here or Ebay the seller must be willing to work with you to transfer the license or you won't be able to use it Lew
SeekingX5License
Thanks, Lew: That's a good idea about eBay. Just created a search. I would actually pay double that. Thanks for the advice about a seller being willing to transfer a license. Got a similar answer from sales. Sincere regards. Kbird1
There is someone selling X7 in the Offerings Forum , it has a 32bit version , however I don't think it officially supports XP ? but you could confirm that with Sales. Something you could also ask perhaps would be if the Previous Owner of X7 upgraded from X5>X6>X7 if the transfer of license also allows you to Run the previous Owners other Versions too or only X7. lbuttery
upgraded from X5>X6>X7 If you sell a license you are suppose to give all of the old versions along with the newest or destroy them Lew

From transfer agreement- Quote (g) If the Software being transferred is an Upgrade, you must cease using all prior versions of the Software, Documentation, and Graphical Files as well. You must uninstall all versions of the software and you may not use or retain any copy of any prior version of the Software; (h) You may not transfer any earlier versions of Software which have been upgraded;

From transfer agreement- Bummer, I've never seen a transfer form , that means an x7 license is no good even if the Owner did have X5 or X6 too. Might want to Post your request in the Seeking Forum too SeekingX5. M.
lbuttery
I would check with CA sales I think that means you can't transfer old versions while keeping the newest If you sell the newest then it "should" include all the old ones too it is one continuous license that covers all versions you own BUT, I could be wrong ... SeekingX5License
Thanks, Lew, for the feedback. Only the sales department would have a definitive answer. Not sure sometimes how to interpret specific contract clauses. Found Home Designer Suite 2014 at amazon.com for $99 in the meantime. Maintenance and security are not concerns, because I'm using it offline inside VirtualBox with Lubuntu as a host. That'll be fine for personal and educational purposes. Intend to let ya'll know when I get a definitive answer. Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
