ACADuser
Having a heck of a time getting this remodel roof to cooperate. I'm not using a 2nd floor so I can model the trusses with a slope. The existing plan is included so you can see what I am working from. Basically removing the existing flat roof & ceiling & adding parapet walls to raise the family room ceiling. Adding a porch & rear facade. The existing roof planes will be extended to the new parapet. The problem I'm having is the interaction of the walls/room below & the parapet walls drawn on the attic level. See section S3 for intended truss design Any advice would be appreciated. Joe_Carrick
Here's the simple way to solve this: Create your Roof Plane over the 1st Floor Add a 2nd Floor with no Roof or Ceiling and no Floor Below Set the 2nd Floor Height to 30" Select the Parapet Walls and designate as Solid Railings with a Wall Cap and a Wall Height of 24" (<30") The attached pic shows the result. Note that the 2nd Floor Height and Parapet Height may need to be different for your plan - and you may need to edit one of the walls to be lower than the top of your "Flat Roof". But the procedure is the same. I call this method "Parapet Room/Roof"
ACADuser
I tried similar but had issues building roof trusses. Maybe I messed a step so I'll try again later today.
