Help! When I am changing materials on cabinets, floors etc. Chief will freeze and I get the spinning beach ball of death when selecting materials from my library.  This mostly happens on countertops, floors and cabinets when I am changing to a material from the manufacturer catalogs.  Anyone know how to fix this or is this happening to anyone else?

Sounds like one for Tech Support , I don't think I have ever seen a Beach Ball :) so I'm not much help.... you may have a bad symbol in the Library , especially if you import stuff from the SketchUp 3D Warehouse etc but you will need to provide more info as nobody even knows what Software you are using or what version.....I suggest filling in your Forum Signature and providing a few more details if you can..... see below.

It's good to have your Forum Signature filled in, especially with the Software Version, and of course a real Name is nice too :) ..............see mine below in Blue for how to do that.
If you don't see my Signature then you have them turned off for the Forum so you need to Toggle it on in UserName>Account >Signatures...... go to the Upper RH Corner of Forum Window.

Possibly the wrong SketchUp Version for whatever version of Chief you are Using ?

you haven't filled in your Forum signature , so we don't know what software you are using which is important at times...please see mine below.

I like to use Line Style renderings for my concept sets - and have noticed that when i use them the backgrounds print out black. This when I have them set to 'live view - update on demand'

I export using the chief pdf exporter - then open in Preview and the backgrounds look white - then I print and they're black.

I have checked the background of the line style viewports, and have even specifically set it to a 'white' background.

In the chief menu, I have selected and changed all my window and colors to white as much as possible even, and no change.

When the pdf is exported from Preview, after the export from chief, and made into JPEG files for each sheet it will print correctly.

Trying to figure out what's going on - pretty sure it's not my printer - and i've tried printing from other PDF readers and no dice. Also, if I print from the 'mac print dialogue' and use the native pdf exporter, the files come out without the black background, but there are other issues (different thread I suppose).

My hunch is that it's somewhere in the chief achitect PDF converter, maybe specific to mac computers. Anybody else having this problem? It has been posted about before but never saw resolution.

      Hi All
I am trying to render pool water.  I have tried different things but I just can't seem to get it to look right.  The first two supplied are from "pool Studio".  To me these look fairly realistic.  I like the transparency and color.  The last two are my renderings.  I know it has a lot to do with the pool plaster material, texture, etc.  But I just can't seem to get a good pool water.  I have gone to the Sketch Up Club for good images.  Just looking for tricks and tips as I have been doing alot of pools lately..

      thanks in advance

I want to put vertical weathered lap siding on a house exterior but I do not see this in the materials listing, there is only horizontal weathered lap siding as shown in attached image. Is there a way to make it vertical??? Ultimately I am trying to go for a look like with the Juvet Landscape Hotel siding (photo attached). Can anybody help me? (I am using Chief Architect Home Designer Suite 2016 and if I can get this to work I will likely upgrade to the Architect version.). If needed I am even willing to purchase a separate materials library if it would accomplish this. Or do I need to create my own material?
