houseofcards
hi all, did a big import from a cad file, tons of stray layers, want to clean the file up a bit the problem are layers that show as used (with red plus sign) (and so can't be deleted) but that seem to be empty eg, when I isolate one of these layers, and, for example, select all, or zoom in and out, I can't find anything ON that layer thoughts? thanks
Alaskan_Son
Without seeing your plan this is just a guess, but try this… Those layers might be used in some of your CAD Blocks. Try going into CAD Block Management and checking "Automatically Purge CAD Blocks". Then see if you can delete those layers.
joey_martin
Also, importing from CAD, the lines may be the same color as your background, so you can't see them. Change the color of the layer and see if they pop up then.
houseofcards
hey thanks for your help -- in some cases it's just a matter of looking for some stray line somewhere and deleting it but in others its a little weirder: if I select an object, it will show which layer that object is on in the active layer window. but sometimes one of these zombie layers will show up too -- as if there's some reference to it -- but I can't figure out how to un-reference the zombie layer
