  1. Part of the PDF looks like a poly line solid box that has about 75% transparency is laying over the drawing.

The lines are muted in quite a bit of the drawing.

A bit difficult to see but it is there.

    Andy.

  2. Wow, that sure is a strange looking thing to have happen.

Drat! If only there was some way that we could actually open your plan and layout from our computers. Perhaps that way one of could figure out the reason for this happening instead of just looking at your very interesting picture.

But alas, ChiefTalk does not provide any such mechanism for doing this.

    Alas and alack, tisk tisk.

    Andy.

  3. I have to figure about 4 hours at the HO's house when I build the model on site. I have spent 6 hours n site before though. But I feel that on average I save a couple hours over-all by not having to trek back out to re-measure because of errors and omissions.

Of course, sometimes I don't have the time or the HO doesn't want me to be there that long for whatever reason.

    Andy.

  4. Andy,  Jon,  Greg,  Marc,  Larry,   how long does it take you to do as built?

Use this house as an example:

A typical 2200 sf 2 story Kalifornia stucco house on a slab,  flat lot,  vaulted ceilings in the living room and a switch back stair,  two car garage.

When I say as built I am talking SITE PLAN,  ROOF PLAN,  ELEVATIONS,  FLOOR PLANS,  ROOF FRAMING,  FLOOR FRAMING,  FOUNDATION AND 6 SECTIONS.  No electrical plan and no cabinet elevations.

If I understand correctly the scope of work you are talking about I would say roughly 12-15 hrs.

    Andy.

  5. I take my little Dell Inspiron lap-top with me to the measure and set it up so as I measure each room or the exterior I build the walls in Chief at the same time.

This causes more time to be spent at the house but shortens the over-all time I spend creating the model and lessens the number of errors.

    Andy.

  6. Andy, the problem is that Chief "divides" the drawing sheet (say 24" x 36") into lots of 8-1/2" x 11" sizes and you end up with a complete mess - no control over the output.

True, but I think that is what he is looking to do then just paste it all together.

    Could be wrong though.

    Andy.

  7. I believe that whichever PDF printer you are using you may be able to simply set the print dialog in Chief "to scale" and the paper size to 8 1/2" x 11".

That will automatically make the proper amount of 8 1/2" x 11" sheets in the printer.

Actually, I think you can do this for any printer, not just PDF.

    Andy.

  8. You may try building the octagonal deck in a separate plan then in a 3D view make that deck a symbol.

Then import that deck symbol into the main plan with the house and other deck.

    Andy.

  9. $22,457.00 in California, $18,632.00 in Maryland, $13,098.00 in Alabama, $120,888.00 in New York city and Seattle, 200,876.00 Francs or about 15,000.00 Euros in Brussels, $1,230.00 or 34,000 Pesos in Mexico, 18,563.00 to 28,985.00 Australian dollars in (you guessed it) Australia and $68.00 US dollars in Liberia plus two goats.

    Does that help?

  10. Oh thank god, someone else with a sense of humor.

I was beginning to feel like the character Rick in the 'Walking Dead' must have felt like after recovering in the hospital room.

He wakes up from a coma only to find that most other people were no longer alive.

    Andy.

  11. Ooh, bad timing.

5:40 PM on a Friday evening.

Keep checking the locker. If you are current on your SSA then it will probably be in there soon.

Although they might be having some glitches for some people. Might have to wait til Monday and call tech support.

(now who do I sound like?) Hmmmm.

    Andy.

  12. When I try to download x7 isn't there. Any Suggestions?

Ah...you are going to have to give us more info than that.

Do you mean you go into your Digital Locker and it is not there?

Or when you click the download  it simply does not start downloading?

    What?

    Andy.

  13. Ah, just click on the interior part of the wall for the handles (diamond?) to show up on the interior half of the wall and on the exterior half to show on the exterior part of the wall.

At least, I think this is what you are asking about.

    Andy.

  14. Umm, I don't think HD Pro would get you far enough seeing ans how it only allows for 11 x 17 or some such format and most BD and PD want 24 x36.

Plus HD Pro only allows one page at a time from what I understand.

Anyway, you need the services of a design professional and an engineer for your project. An engineer licensed in AZ.

Send me what you have Brad and I will take a look at it.

    Andy.
