  1. Hi All, I created a whole trellis with framing members before realizing this--I can't believe I've never noticed that framing disappears in 3D when blocked before this. When framing members are blocked, they are still visible in 2d, but become cad blocks and not architectural blocks so disappear in 3D.
  2. BTW, I had talked to the help department and they weren't sure of how to do this either...good to know. It seems we were all trying to drop the sink on the counter, not on the plan. Cheers!
  3. Ah ha! Thank you, i was dropping sink 2 on the cabinet after moving the other sink over and it was disappearing the other sink. Thank you, Barry
  4. First off, thank you both for your help. My question was how to get two sinks into the type of cabinet I had styled. The client has a cabinet picked out and is paying me to see that cabinet with two sinks modeled in their space with the countertop and flooring they picked out. So yes, picky is the job. Not an issue creating the cabinet, we have some great cabinet tools these days, the limitation seems to be with the sinks. I was putting the question out there to see if anyone had a solution to the question before adding it to suggestions. I appreciate the help, but I'm still interested in knowing if there's a way to drop in two sinks into the cabinet style I had created. Thanks again, Barry
  5. Then there's not on around the outside? The real question is, we have the tools to make most cabinet configurations, but we're limited by not being able to drop in a second sink. Perhaps the programmers could see a way to allow more control over sinks?
  6. It sees the frame always shows between the drawers when bumped together. I don't how that works. But I could be missing it.
  7. Hi All, The only way I know how to achieve this look is to vertically split a drawer using an inset box style. It's a very common look these days, All works out fine until adding the second sink. Chief doesn't like two sinks in one cabinet. Any different approaches or work arounds welcome. Thank you, Barry
  8. Hi all, Converting a garage that's 12" below main level. Stem walls vary around garage. Tried creating a stair landing, but can't draw the closet walls on a stair landing. So then created a slab--can draw walls on that, but doors bounce around because they don't have a solid reference point and of course the slab won't frame like a floor which means time wasted later. The floor structure tool in combination with balloon framing tool when hanging the floor above and below stem walls of differing heights is death by way too many clicks. Anyone have a simple way to do this? It seems if we were allowed to build walls on stair landings it would be a major evolution. Thank you, Barry
  9. Hey, thanks for that kbird, appreciate it. Decks are pretty fun to use, but they certainly lack in the details of reality.
  10. Well sort of...however then it doesn't look exactly correct in plan view...I had to add 3" to get it to offset by 1.5? But thanks, it works pretty well..
  11. Hi all, Please see image: Generally newel post s are either inside or outside of the rim joists. In the rail dbx, we can offset the newels, but then the balusters and rails are wrong. What's the fastest way to resolve this? Thank you, Barry
  12. HI all, Q: Wall hatch fill default? Does anyone know where that can be changed? No one at chief seems to know. The factory default is 1? Why? 1 barely prints. I've gotten caught on this several times. Is there a way to change the default? If not, perhaps chief make the default 5 or 10 so it's not overlooked when printed? Thanks amigos!
  13. Hey guys, I don't understand plan views? I mean, I already have my layout pages populated with dummy floor, framing, roofing, electrical, elevations, crossections and other views that are sent there from annotation sets and referenced by page in the project browser. I replace the dummy plan with my new plan when I need a new layout. Then I use my layout to navigate back to my plan views with corresponding annotation sets. It seems plans views creates more steps to achieve the same thing, but it's all new to me, so I'm sure I'm missing something. Anyone know what's more efficient about plan views?
  14. Hi Mark, I'm not sure I get what you mean, export image? Can this be done with a bunch of plants at the same time? Thanks, Barry
  15. Hey all, Great suggestions! Thanks for your creative solutions. I'm going to make a library generic greenery asap. Cheers! Barry
  16. Cool, but in render view they look real, I would like them to look like that while rendering the house more realistically. Is that possible? Otherwise I end up spending hours landscaping to make it all look real. Thanks for finding those and considering the issue. Barry
  17. HI all Do we have a low resolution generic plant, bush and tree option? 99% of the time I just need some low res generic plant fill. Bush, plant, Tree. Can we achieve something like sketchup has? High res detail plants generally detract from the main design, I want them to be fast to place not use a lot of storage and barely exist. Anyone have suggestions on how to get this look in Chief? I would trade all 5 million plant for 10 generic ghosts. Thank you, Barry
  18. Thank you, Michael! I was looking for that before, but it alluded me, thought they did away with it...ha!
  19. Hey all, My Truss wants to fill in dormer, I want to overframe. How do I replicate my normal trusses without them wanting to change to a dormer truss? I simply want to copy a normal truss across where the dormer is so it has the same label as all the other trusses. I can't seem to copy a normal truss across the dormer sections without it changing it's shape to fill the dormer. Thank you for your help, Barry
  20. Ahhh... Yes! I think Eric may have the best approach. I was doing it in the wrong order: The correct method is: Create roof plane, frame roof plane, copy framing, delete, roof plane, then paste framing back. I was pasting then deleting roof plane..even when renamed to a different layer the framing deletes when you delete the original roof plan after pasting. Copy Framing--Delete roof plane--paste framing...simple..Thank you all.
  21. Hey all, Anyone found a way to do this? I tried copying and renaming, but when the roof plan is deleted, the framing gets deleted? I thought it would be a faster way to make an arbor, but not.. Curious if it can be done? Thank you, Barry
  22. Hey, thanks guys! Chief is easy, it's the automation that takes 5000 hours of skill to end-run:) Cheers!
