I love the new shadow featture in x8 it gives my drawings that much more of a punch that I was missing. I used to have a block in AutoCAD that I would bring in to add that just to give it more of a Architectural Hand drawing that all CAD programs seem to leave out. Every thing helps as each program evolves. Now if I could just ask CA to outline all my Elevations to emphasize it that much more. One other thing that I wish Chief would get rid of is all those damn Arrows and simplify it down to only a few and add a nice thick line Architectural Tic arrow. Sadowski elevations.pdf

Birdsmouth Cut To Match Existing On Framing
cjanderson66 replied to cjanderson66's topic in General Q & A
Seriously Justin maybe it is possible that you have been lifting way to many heavy things and don't understand the actual question as well not understanding the visual presentation of the PDF. We are all talking about the eliminating the small vaulted portion of the ceiling as to have a longer seat cut to the rafter and nothing to do with the tail of the rafter. Raising the ceiling height does not fix the issue of the the wall height nor eliminating the small vaulted portion. (Just sayin ) -
Birdsmouth Cut To Match Existing On Framing

Yes but Is there a way to raise the wall height to match the bottom of the ceiling joists so it shows correctly? Thanks by the way. -

Wow Jon, $3600 for a Laptop... I primarily use my Desktop for Chief and then my MacBook pro 15 for client presentations. Do you do all your work on the ASUS? Still using a #2 Pencil as well, I have kids so I can't seem to keep them around so I switched to the IPad and a Disto. Chris

Ok so I am doing an addition and have existing 2X6 rafters but will be using 2X8 rafters on the proposed. We have all pretty much come across this situation where we need the roofs to plane in with each other. In the attached drawing this is what happening to the ceiling because the wall height is lowered to accommodate the new rafters depth. How do I change the walls to match the existing height and the birdsmouths cut is deeper? The wall needs to come up 2-5/16" to match the bottom of the ceiling joists. Anybody have any answers....Chief? Elevation Image.pdf

This Raytrace took over 50 min. and had only done 6 passes. I would agree with Kirk that if I had saved the drawing and only took a Raytrace of the area I wanted it would have been much faster. That being said it is a waste of time either way. I feel like I have a graphics card that should make lightspeed of this but I now feel that I need a new graphics card to keep up.

Does anyone know if there is a way to edit a dimension line without the text of the dimension line itself. I have a dimension that I don't want the text but I want my own text. I have several pier locations and they are in a general spacing 4'-0" min. - 10'-0" max. so I spaced them at 6'0 just for clarity sakes. Can you edit the text of a dimension line. In that dreaded ACAD program I used to be able to edit the dim. line.
