That seemed to do the trick. Thanks!

Hi Jonathan, Thanks for the info. I originally had it set up that way, but with an exterior wall. I hadn't thought about using a pony wall. Is there a way to keep the doorway from dividing the room?

HI all, What is the preferred way for a shed roof to properly terminate below the ceiling of the roof it's interfacing with? I'm struggling with this one. Thanks in advance! Unit 2a-3a.plan

Hi Doug, Thanks for fiddling around with the roof, I appreciate your time on it. I kinda figured that to have walls raise up to the upper overlay roof, the structural cathedral roof can not lap over the top plates of the wall. Regarding the framing, I will tweak the framing later so that it sits on the top plates of the wall. I don't want to mess around with hanging the roof framing off of the wall or getting into penetrating the wall cavity. I know how they will build it, they'll put up the 9/0 walls, build the cathedral roof, frame the overlay, then sister some studs next to the rafter seats for the sheathing attachment on the wall in question. Hi Doug, That looks right for sure. Does the rafter sit on top of the wall plates or does it hang off the inside face of stud?

OK, Let's see if this works Unit 3b.plan

I am a relatively new Chief user and have been struggling with a type of roof where there is a cathedral ceiling and an overlay roof above it. Part of cathedral roof will have no overhang and the exterior wall will continue up to the overlay roof. I can never get this to frame clean and I'm not sure how to build the wall above the cathedral roof. I do this type of roof quite often and would love a quicker, cleaner workflow. Please see the attached image. I am have trouble attaching the plan file because it's too large. Thanks in advance! Christian

Hi all. New chief user here. We are making a switch from an old pseudo BIM / autocad system that we have completed hundreds of high-end residential projects on, and I am having a hell of a time getting roof girder and overlay trusses to frame properly. At gable-end roof change, we typically draw a girder at the out face of stud from supported roof - please see the attached PDF. It this possible? I added a girder truss line and the software says it can't build the truss. I have also added a truss base and I get errors on the oerlay truss creation. I would love any insight that any of you may have. Thanks in advance. Christian Girder Truss.pdf
