  1. Thanks Chopsaw, I think you are on to what I am looking for to solve my problem. I will go see if I can figure out the layer set. Perhaps Joe will chime in to help, if he sees this post.
  2. I have my layout complete with all the various views from the different plans that need to be represented. I have also put together the brochure page for this plan, but it needs to have a different title block because it will be printed on an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper and doesn't need all the other information that is contained in the normal title block. I want to have the brochure on the same layout as the other sheets so that if the plan is changed the brochure will also be changed and be printed at the same time. I know I will have to change the print setup for the brochure page and change it back to print the other sheets. The attached picture shows what I am trying to do. The blue arrow is the boarder I would like to use. Would be so nice if you could select the view to be printed, as you can in AutoCAD. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Thanks!!!
  3. Great!!! good to know. I will try that, now....... just did it and that worked. Thanks!!! Still don't understand why the live view started acting that way as I never have used the plot lines method before. Glad I have a work around, now.
  4. The print is definitely clear enough but the line weight of the colored views is different than the original black and white vector views.
  5. I have always sent it as a live view. If I send it as plot lines, will it still update like the live view does when changes are made?
  6. No such luck. This is the settings and image that I end up with on the layout page. You can see some of the other views are normal black and white views. Not sure what happened. I have had it happen before and it seemed like when clicked on it and opened the view that it became normal once I closed it again. This time that isn't working.
  7. Anyone else had this issue? The cross section camera views I am sending to the layout page have started coming in as color. Do you know the fix on this? Using X8. Thanks!
  8. Good idea! I hadn't thought of that, Thanks. in this case I could do all versions that need monolithic foundations on one plan and all versions that need block on a different plan. Then send the views to the corresponding layout plan. This would make it easier to make the inevitable changes as my production builder finds something he missed on the plan. They would all be in one or two locations.
  9. Thanks Joe. This helped me get started. I also was able to use Edit Area to select the home inside of the cameras and reflect the home about its center point. This way the elevation cameras still had the correct view.... something that gets messed up when you use the tool reverse plan. Thinking about putting the side loading on the same plan if the garage is on the same side of the home. Then placing 4 more cameras around it to do new elevations to send to the new layout page for side entry plans. The homes would have to be directly in line or the camera from the first house would pick up the second house, I believe. Think this could work?
  10. Don't know why, but I think I worked it out. I rebuilt the foundation with 8" CMU. Before I was selecting the mono foundation wall and changing it the a 8" CMU wall and apparently CA doesn't like it when you do that. Maybe because the 4" slab isn't thick enough for the 8" CMU? Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Renerabbitt, I came really close to sharing it as you guys have been so helpful with me on my shared plans in the past. I may yet send it as I am having trouble with a full return roof plan that sometimes auto generates and sometimes doesn't
  11. Thanks Joe, but the pattern is there. Here is the attachment.
  12. Normally not a problem if it shows or not, but for this client the hatch pattern needs to show on the foundation page. I am using the CMU wall. This is what I am getting. What do I need to do to accomplish this? All layers are turned on.
  13. Any way to do this without creating 2 plan and layout files? To add a twist, the client wants to have front loading and side loading garage options. How would you approach this in Chief Architect?
  14. Perfect!!!! Just what I was wanting and looking in all the wrong places for...... Thanks Michael and Glenn!!!!!! I can't tell you how many times I have been unnecessarily drawing these things in manually.
  15. Thanks for you answer Glenn, Unfortuately, I can't find this option. I click on the wall and the dialog box gives me the option to make it a foundation wall under the General Tab. Alternatively, on the Foundation tab I can make it a foundation wall with or without slab footing. All options show up on the same level as the original wall (1st floor). Any place else for me to look?
  16. The problem I am having is that I have placed tree symbols and text in various places on the terrain. When I move the terrain the trees etc do not stay in their place in relation to the terrain. Wish there was a way to block it together.
  17. Is there a way to have the footing you can add on a wall dbx show on the foundation instead of the 1st floor. This seems to have been something discussed in 2001-2003 in my google search but there weren't any answers that didn't require drawing it in manually. Has there been any developments in Chief regarding this issue since then? I am currently on X8. Thanks
  18. Rob, what a great idea. How do you make a symbol of the house when it has so many objects? I thought symbols were for single objects. I don't see where I can make a block out of the house, either. Thanks!
  19. Kiwideziner what is the easiest way to place the building in the correct position on the terrain when you add the terrain data later?
  20. Will do. Thanks for getting all the links together for me.
  21. I have a client that has been designing her home in a lower end CA product. She shared her design with me and wants me to place it accurately on the topographical land survey that she has provided and build the terrain. This is out of the normal order I do things so I haven't attempted it just yet. Have any of you done this before and can you let me know of any landmines I should be aware of or tips that could help me. Thanks a bunch.
