  1. Exactly Rashid_Garuba... concisely said! Thanks for your help in brainstorming everyone to see if there is a different solution. I think I am stuck changing each plan as chief58 suggested. .
  2. Scott another question if/ when you have time.... If this was you would you approach it by making the changes in one version and then reversing that version to make the other hand again instead of going back to make the changes a second time. Thinking about best way to do it and not accidentally miss anything. I also thought about coping the areas changed and then doing a paste hold position into the other plan versions after I delete the affected areas. Each plan would have its own layout pages. Just looking for ideas on best approach to accomplish the changes as quickly as possible.
  3. Thanks for the quick response. Guess I will just put it on the wish list for my dream version of Chief Architect. Really love working with CA and enjoy watching your tutorials. Appreciate all you help.
  4. Can anyone help me???? I do work for a production builder. I make reversed version of every house plan I do for them. They will do front, side and 3 car side entry garage versions on most all plans. There are always modifications they come back with and I end up having to do the changes on all these copies of the plan. Does Chief Architect have a way to link the source plan to the other copies? I have been doing their work thus far in AutoCAD.... very time consuming. I have Chief X5 with the subscriptions for the later versions. Haven't the computer to run the more recent versions, yet. Thank you for your time, Diane

    Deck Edges

Yes, this works. I would like to see the edge of the deck or balcony without all the framing members. Any ideas?
  7. Is there a way to show the edge of the deck and the railing in plan view? I can only see the railing and want to keep it since it has my column positions. is there a setting I need to change so that I can see the deck edge? Thanks a bunch!
  8. Thanks for your help. I am using the full view camera for now. When I tried this I got the same results whether the box was checked or not: Long term solution is to uncheck: DEFAULTS>CAMERA>3D VIEWS>RESTRICT FLOOR CAMERA TO ROOM If this box is checked, then the camera won't display anything outside of the room the camera is in.

  10. Sorry, trying to attach again. 1100 E Lakeview Ave FLIP STAIRS .zip
  11. I just double checked by putting a floor camera into the house and then going to the Display Options button to make sure that Walls, Normal had a check mark by it. It did. Is this what you meant? I have attached the plan. I wonder if it shows the walls when you try it. Thanks for trying to help me on this issue.
  12. My 3D floor camera isn't showing the walls. I see the outside background instead. The walls are there in perspective full overview....just the interior floor camera doesn't work properly. I have made sure all wall options are on to be displayed in 3D views. I have set floors back to default ceiling height, wall heights etc. as mentioned in http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00378/. I have checked the other steps mentioned as well. Can anyone tell me what else I should check? I have attached a picture of what I get using floor camera. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00378/
  13. Still would like to learn how to do the brick course molding mentioned in the tutorial http://www.chiefarch...icle/KB-00797/ I can see how it would make the brick band I need around windows so easily. You just go into the casing and select the brick molding you created as the material. I followed the instructions exactly. I even did it 3 times to make sure. When I zoom into the window casing (attached in original post) I can see the brick and mortar is there, but it is so narrow it looks like stripes. This image from the tutorial is the look I am trying to get. Anyone else have a hint for me? Diane Pitts http://www.builderscadservices.com/
  14. Thanks for your reply, David. You are my Chief Guru. I have watched so many of your videos. They have been so helpful in learning Chief. What I was trying to accomplish is a brick band around the window. I will look at your link.
  15. I followed the instructions for creating this symbol from Chief Architect. http://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00797/ I know I am close, but there is something wrong with the size. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get the brick course to be the correct width? I have attached a picture of what the molding symbol is giving me when I put it on a window casing.
  16. Thanks for your replies. I figured it out. If you zoom in really, really close to the columns the columns do appear in the reference display. They just aren't visible like other similarly sized objects (sinks) from the normal full
  17. I have selected display millwork on the reference layer set I created for the foundation, but it won't show the column locations. Everything else I have selected is displaying correctly. I need this info for my foundation page. Any ideas on what I am missing?
  18. Restarted CA, seems to be working correctly now.
  19. According to the info I found I am supposed to have access to 100 previous selections when I hit the esc key. I am only getting the last 2. I would like to have around 8, especially when I am setting the electrical objects. Is there a setting I need to change? "You can navigate a list of up to 100 recently used tools using the CancelSelection/Previous Command, Next Command and Previous Command hotkeys. The tools in this list are organized according to the order in which you selected them during the current program session."
