  1. It's not the wall hatching.

It's the 4 basins you have inserted into the base cabinets.

I think it is the face count contained in the symbol - over 6000 faces.

    Use a different basin.

Glenn,  was there an quick way to find the issue or did you just start selecting items until you found the problem.

  2. You can add a moulding to the cabinets via the cabinet mouldings tab.  Am I missing something??

Edit:  I just realized you used the half-wall tool and not cabinets.  I would use cabinets for that "halfwall" and then apply the moldings to those cabinets.

i disagree with Michael,  I would not use cabinets for the half wall,  I would either use a wall and change height manually by dragging down in elevation or I would use walls and make them railing walls……  the reason…  they are framed wall with plates…..  cut a section and you see the plates….  and if you ever use the material list,  they should be there.

But,  back to the point about no base molding at half walls by cabinet…..  if I am not mistaken,  the walls should get auto base molding if the walls are defined as ROOM DEF WALLS vs. defined as NON ROOM DEF WALLS.

So,  if they are ROOM DEF WALLS,  you should get the molding……..  I think…...

  3. Hope this capture got attached finally - still trying to figure my way around here

And here is what I see……  well I would post a screen shot but I am on Mac at house which of course behaves differently than mac at office so I have not figured out how to post a screen shot on the  home mac…..  take my word for it,   don't  see what you see,  Glenn's post looks normal.  Something weird going on with your computer.

  4. You may increase the U-V roughness of the floor material to 95 - 100% or change Material Class to "Reflective" with a reflection value of less than 5%.

I thought this was a great answer,  have not tried it yet,  but it  makes sense. I think what Jintu is saying is if you emend these settings,  the floor will not reflect.  I did a vid on RT's,  and in the vid I kind of liked the reflection,  somehow I thought it added something…….  you know,  a little artistic license.

Did the OP try Jintus's suggestion?

  5. Don't mess with Scott!  He is an 'insider' and can destroy your reputation with a 'single click' :)  :) :)  Just pulling your chain... I value all you guys, but have to be sarcastic, it is my nature...

On another note:  The final episodes of 'Breaking Bad' are now on Netflix!  I know Scott is a big fan!

Hey Bill,   are watching it?  Great show.  I have moved onto "Game of Thrones"……  not as good…..  but when I am riding the bike at the gym it gives me something to do.

BTW,  Lynn is reading the Harry Truman biography…….  she is beginning to think he was the best President of all time.

  6. What are Reputation Points ?

Are they good or bad?  Scott has 6 and I only have 2 - maybe it's a new Golf Handicap System.

OTOH, maybe it's a grade for how verbose you are

That's what it is Joe,  I get more  points than you here and I get a lot more points than you on the golf course.  Winner winner,  chicken dinner.

  7. Must be something in how I did this-

Exported current view of plan to dwg- imported to layer CAD Import- immediately blocked the entirety. Good so far.

I went to hide it- unchecked both the layer I have it on "CAD import" and "architectural blocks", it's still shows?

Does importing a dwg put everything on it's original layer or something?

    I think it is on layer CAD,   KITCHEN BATH,  try turning that layer off and see if that works for you.;

  8. By the way,  just to the left of the reply count is a hidden button that let's you preview a thread and it will list the first and last  post to a particular thread.  I would still like to see the last post listed at the top.

  9. Kirk, I too am having this issue along the Raytrace taking too long.  I understand that to reduce the time I can save just the area that I want to Raytrace and delete everything else but doesn't that negate the point.  I am doing a simple kitchen Raytrace no Photo mapping and after 10 passes or 10 min. it still has not completed the Raytrace.

I bet you 20.00 you have a bunch of lights on. Not referring to user defined lights but actual LIGHTS turned on.

Try turning all of your LIGHTS off and just use user defined light sourced.

  10. I noticed a save not overiding previous file with same name. I reported to Brian, he said the new version will not overwrite the older version if the older version is not closed. He said he will incorporate code warning of this, I guess that is what Dan is referring to.

Do no knowt if this is your issue but to restate, the original must be closed if you want newer to replace older.

  11. No crashing with ray tracing. I get crashes when I want to UNDO something in layout. CA gets locked in a never ending READING FILE and I have to hard boot the Mac.... Did send in to tech support,

  12. Sounds like a user error of some sort, but it's hard to be certain without seeing the plan. Can you attach the plan?? Is one of your layers possibly turned off?? Where did you get the particular symbol?? If it's a standard Chief symbol, which one was it??

Michael, you are a much better man than I. When I read this question from a long time user...... A long time user who posted a relatively simple question without posting a plan............ Yep, I think you are correct, user error.

Go ahead and give be a black mark, I deserve it. Thank you, thank you very much.

  13. AFAIK - Cjhief does not e-mail a notification when new catalogs are  issued . They do, however, usually anounce them under their anouncement thread.. so if you monitor this forum, you should see any new catalog notifications.

Once you load a catalog, if you do a update, it will update any out of date catalogs but will not load new catalogs.

I get a monthly newsletter and there is always a link to the new catalog of the month.

  14. Mark,

If you want the Polyline Solid to remain on the floor that you draw it on in Cross Section view, use the Polyline Solid tool directly.

Don't convert from a Polyline to Polyline Solid.

This is so weird. I remember this from a long time ago. As I work I almost always turn a pline to a psolid, and I know I must do it on the second floor but I don't have this problem anymore.

I know what Glenn is saying is true, it's just that this has not happened to me in years. Do you think I am special or is this another sign of my nuttiest?

    I'll check it out tomorrow.

  15. 1. Don't know, did you call it a garage?

    2. Probably but try this. Select enough interior walls so that when you change these to non room def., you can select the one remaining room, change to no longer floor supplied by room below, and then change walls back to room def.

Dora? Maybe that is what I will watch with his sister. Can my life get any more miserable?

  16. I find it extremely useful in getting an idea of how new a person is, how involved they are, how experienced they are, etc.  It may not always be accurate, but it is definitely useful in my opinion.

That was an excellent reason. The number of posts is definitely a gauge of another's knowledge.
