Could you post a sketch or picture. Is the angle on the bottom?
-
Do you care to share the plan file before we start Scott?
-
Ahh, I have been meaning to ask what screen capture software you are using because your vid's are always so good and now I will have to do a my own video on this subject to prove that it does work when you follow the directions. True I did not think it would work myself so that is why I tested it.

MIchael, Can you get the text to resize and everything that way? And I assume you are 18.3.1.2 updated. Maybe you could do a video if you have time on the weekend.
Chopsaw.

Sorry, That would still be no here. Do you think there is some setting that controls that?
-
Thanks Perry, I think that will be necessary for other parts of the structure so it would be good to do it all that way.
-
Larry,
Notice I said CTRL or X not Ctrl X. CTRL works for most things in Chief and X works for Text boxes but neither work for Schedules.

Use the center handle of the sections you have created and work in an elevation view and you can use dimension tools to get it exact.
-
Doesn't holding down Ctrl and X allow smooth re-sizing of anything ?
No this does not seem to work for schedules.
Would blocking the schedule allow that ?
Yes I like this and did not know this was even possible. If you Shift select a schedule you can cad block it and then resize from a corner and then explode and you are back in service. I used to tinker with the text size and the crazy fractions to resize my schedules but this is much better.
Thanks soo much J.J.

This seems to be functioning fine in X8 for me. So I would suggest trying to use the wall material region tool or reporting to tech support as a bug if the proper tool also does not work. Just curious, why the cad box?

Mark, I think I found a solution that you will like. Try raising your living room ceiling height to 4 m and set all your main floor walls to " High Shed/Gable Wall" then under the structure tab select "Default Wall Top Height" and this should rebuild the walls the way you are expecting them to be without attic walls. I think this will work fine for the way you are building.
-
I have found that I need to do that for both the Layout and the Plan.
Joe, Do you start your drawings in Layout as some others do or do you think it would be worthwhile to have an optional Project Information import tool to move from plan to layout. It has just never made sense to me the way it is.

Here is a link to some video's that Michael did not too long ago about Toolbar Customization that you might enjoy : https://chieftalk.chiefarchitect.com/index.php?/topic/8424-customize-toolbar-for-specific-task/?hl=%2Bcustom+%2Btoolbar#entry74093

Mark, Check your Preferences under the Architectural tab and Walls section try Unselecting "Select Room Before Wall in 3D". This will make selecting main floor walls easier but does not effect attic walls. Otherwise you will have to Tab a lot. Not to sure what is going on with the preview panel and the invisible walls.
The message is annoying but normal. Not sure why it is not all working automatically but it may have something to do with the manual roof planes. I don't have enough experience to call that one for you.
I reset my copy of the plan so you could see what the 3D selection should look like.

Attic walls are confusing but in this situation they are filling in properly for me. And hopefully for you to?
Auto is on Jerry.
-
You could also go to your floor plan and go up a level to the Attic and work with the walls there if you prefer.
-
Mark, I was just working in a Perspective Full Overview and selecting walls in 3D. I am not seeing duplicate or invisible walls like Jerry said. But on the Right side of the shot in post 15 there was a approximately 20 cm attic wall on top of your main floor wall and that is what I adjusted there. The front wall had a stagger and I selected it and it rebuilt.

Depending on the situation you could break the wall at each step or just work in elevation view and break the top edge of the wall poly line.
-
Sometimes when you do a save as it will dump all the extra junk and reduce the file size. Other than that I am not sure.

Your not the only one. Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath and think how would someone do this backwards.
