...well then, that would be missing the obvious..let me try that...thanks

Not that you were wrong as the material orientation in the library is displayed as vertical.   Sometimes a little difficult to always remember how different objects automatically orient materials though.

Does anyone know if there's a way to rotate an object about a point and align relative to another object, or to an absolute angle.  I tried Transform/Replicate, but it seems that Transform/Replicate ignores the selected point.  Perhaps there's another way? It's not a huge deal, but would be nice and seems like there should be a way to do this. If not, at least I've learned how Transform/Replicate will allow me to rotate to an absolute angle.

Pretty sure that should work for you but it is not technically the "selected point" but the "Current Point" which is not selected but the most recently placed point.   Not sure if that was just a typo or if that was a misunderstanding but it is an important detail.  Hope that helps.

I couldn't pinpoint it so I highlighted and copied my drawing into a new plan. Now my elements are moving with the arrows again. That was easy! I wish I had thought about that sooner. Thanks again for your help.

Interesting.  You may want to submit the corrupt file to tech support so if it is an issue it does not end up in X15.

Thanks unfortunately selecting the drawing group doesn’t work for the copied group of chairs. I was able to get the table in front of all the other single and grouped chairs just not the copied group.

Restarted my computer, ungrouped all the copied group chairs and it still doesn’t work.

I actually still have X8 installed so I went back and gave it a try with the Core Catalog Rectangular Craftsman Set and it all seems to work fine even deleting half the chairs and copying the rest back over to the empty side as you described.  Multi select or single select and the selected item comes to the top group.

Maybe post your set as a library item or a plan file with the set in it and I can give it a try.

I'm going to do a comparison between the two plans and see if I can troubleshoot. Thanks for your reply.

Good plan.  Please let us know if you find the answer as sometime a reminder like this is all that is needed.

There is a setting in General Plan Defaults that is for doors and windows...   "Ignore Casing When Resizing Wall Openings"    This could be a specific problem.

Most of the edit behavior type setting are in Plan Defaults which will not change from plan to plan.

  6. It really helps if you explain your situation because it is quite likely that others will face the same or a similar situation.  You can not turn off Auto Update.

If you are using the same plan file to generate three different versions of the same foundation then you need to use a method already mentioned.

If you want to use three different plan files or build three structures in different locations on the same plan then it might work depending on your goal.

Just remember that there are thousands of hours of experience and advice given freely here so be respectful.

  7. I am not sure that there is a way to turn that functionality off so it could be a keyboard issue.  Otherwise the distance of the move is set by the "Snap Unit" in General Plan Defaults.   Even if you try to set that to 0 it will default to 1/256" so it may seem like it is not moving if that happened as you likely do not have your dimension defaults set finer than 1/16" so as many as 16 clicks to get a dimension to change possibly.

  8. You might need to be more specific.  You would generally want things to update automatically so nothing gets missed.  However there are still a few options if that does not work for you.

Cad detail from view or for sections and elevations there is the option to have plot line views that are manually updated.  Images rather than live camera views are also sometimes handy.

  9. I have messed around with a very similar situation of a wall framed on top of a couple of courses of CMU that looks really strange in a framing view without the concrete blocks visible.

Ideally you would assign the things you want to show in a framing view as framing but that just leads you into a huge mess.

I think I ended up making a duplicate that I could put on it's own layer which could be turned on and off as necessary.

I'm not sure what the referenced line label is but I'll check that out.

It is not a great solution either as it is a challenge to keep the leader lines attached any you will need a little bit of macro know how unless you are happy with %length% displayed in inches.

  11. Not with automatic line length display unfortunately.   As soon as we get proper labels it will not be a problem.

I sometimes make a duplicate line and make it the blank line style then move the whole line but it is extra stuff to keep track of.

The other options are to use a dimension line or a referenced line label.

Rounding really cleans up the drawing but can it be a bad thing?

I would definitely draw to 1/2 or 1" increments using the snap grid rather that dimension rounding, as setting dimension rounding to 1/2" can at times give your an error as large as 1/2" so then your contractor is not simply out by 1/16" but a full 1/2" which might be as significant as the windows not fitting into the rough openings when they arrive.

I can confirm what you are seeing with the fuzzy text.

It doesn't happen as bad with Rich Text.

I think it must be the 5K screen resolution Glenn...   Perhaps Heidi has the same ?

I just don't seem to get those results with a Windows Machine and a 1080 screen resolution.

I do like the last one though.  What setting is that ?

Rich text is Vector so that does help in all situations to make it clearer.  Where as room labels are not.

  14. Symbols have plenty of category choices when they are created so those have default layers but a symbol can be moved to any layer so it is best to select it and open the DBX and check or have ALDO open when you select it and it will identify the layer for you and it can be turned on or off.   I assume the symbol is just for background orientation and not actually using it for section views.

@Chopsaw this is a screenshot just in the main floorplan view. Not in layout. When I zoom in almost all the way the text gets clear and when I print it to PDF the text is clear. That’s why I can’t figure out why it’s pixelated when I’m zoomed out.

Just as a test try Rich Text with the same font and same color and the same size.  It may have as much to do with your screen or video driver as much as anything else.  If that makes no difference then feel free to post a test plan that displays the same issue since you don't likely have SSA with X10.
