Tuesday, Apr 03, 2018 - 03:14 PM PDTHello William,
Thank you for contacting us regarding the profile of C and U Channel framing in clipped section views and for sending us an example. I will report this issue to our Software Development team and thank you for bringing it to our attention. -

Not sure if this is the correct functionality or not but it seems that if the camera cuts the C channel it displays as a cross box in section view yet if the member is not cut it appears as a "C" . Any chance you move the camera ? Could not find a saved one.
I went back in this morning and looked at them from the end, not a cross section and they were "C"'s. So it appears CA is messing it up. Where do I go to report the error or has some one already done that?

When I did this section yesterday it worked fine. Today I raised the joists up for a suspended ceiling and the section now shows a lumber symbol. Have spent 3 hours trying to fix this with no answer.
This is my biggest gripe with CA is when something goes wrong it seems entirely too much time is lost looking for a solution which ends up being something simple.

I am assuming that steel section is a symbol
Yes it is, but the "ghosting is not just on the symbol.

It is definitely plot lines/color fill.
It is as if all the colors are offset, though the symbols were worse.
I know I had this issue years ago and it seemed like it was an easy fix with camera settings or something. I think it was when color fill was first introduced.

It doesn't.....

So at the end of the day, the answer is "NO". But in reality it takes, what.....5 seconds to create a "saved Plan View"?
I was just making sure I did not miss an import/export. This is really a very good addition in X10.
-
Can this be done? Have set up a plan with plan views and would like to put them in other plans that I have already started.
-
Thanks Michael, that did it

I think I had everything on the same layer, but will go back and look.

For some reason that I'm sure will be very obvious when I am told the answer, I can not make a block of this.

Bottom line- I've yet to find a cabinet I could not make and get into a schedule.
Mark, I got the shop drawings for this and several other cabinets. As these are commercial service counters, they have a 3" toe kick on service side and a 1/2" toe kick on customer side. Is that possible with standard cabinet tools? I do not see a way to do that.

I would delete all existing attic walls and re-do them
I have fixed the problem, but apparently they did find an issue with it framing an attic wall upside down.

Well apparently there are some issues with this
QuoteHello William,
Thank you for contacting Technical Support.
I have sent your plan to our developers for review. For now, however, you can manually delete that wall framing from a framing overview.

I do a bunch of restaurants and I am doing my first in Chief. The setup is killing me but the drawings are surely starting to look good and no more 7 page changes to move a few things.
Most items including menu boards and desks, computer, etc are furniture, but I need them to be fixtures so they will show in the fixture schedule. Before I recreate all these symbols and make them a fixture, is there a setting I am missing that will just change a symbol to a different category?

I found it in about 3.46 seconds
I don't like you anymore! No idea why I could not find it, any idea why it was upside down?

Delete the stray wall and all is well.
I spent several hours looking for anything, turning all layers on in every view and nothing I could find. I sent to support this AM.

there is an error of extra Trusses being generated too in some Plans that Michael ( @Alaskan_Son ) found too
I will post here the solution when I get it (unless it was something stoopid on my part)

The baseline is located obviously at the top surface of the rafter, in line with the exterior of the main layer -- where else would it be?
Well, I assumed it was at the bearing point.....I just read the manual and am corrected.
Anyway, I draw most of my roofs manually out of habit. What I did was measure the distance from where it was to where I wanted it and manually raised it, wallah!
-
Yes, that puts the rafters on the double top plate of the second floor and correctly ignores the third floor.
I tried setting the baseline height at top of subfloor, but I apparently made a wrong assumption as to what and where the base line is located. To the manual I go. -
If I use edit area (all floors), copy and paste in place to a new plan, will it copy everything? Or will I have issues?
Also, thanks, I spent toooo much time on that today!!
-
I am trying to figure out how to automatically set the roof plane so it bears on a 2X on the floor joists when I draw it rather than keep changing the roof plane height until I get lucky.
The roof plane above actually should be moved up some more and I manually added the 2X, however I know in the past if I fiddle with it long enough, CA will place that 2x when I do wall framing.
-
I have been trying to find anything that is causing this for several hours. Turned everything on, re-framed everything, etc., but this upside down gable will not go away. Any ideas?
-
I read on the board that someone fixed issues by "updating" their catalogs. I did not know that was an option. After a 10 minute update I was surprised at the new items and revised items in the core catalogs not to mention bonus and manufacturer. I have never updated my catalogs since X6, thought it was automatic.

Shadows in Layout
in General Q & A

So I have spent 80+ hours working on a remodel for a shopping center, and it looks great until I send it to layout. Below are just an enlarged portion

I am sending all this to support, but I am in a foul mood that I have to send this garbage to a client. Anybody have any suggestions while I wait on support?
Renderings look good!!
