  1. I was messing around with this because the project I'm currently working in has a deck. X18 has added the "Build Platform to Exterior of Layer" and "Build Deck Platform to Exterior of Layer" options to wall settings under wall type definitions, but it only allows you to pick between Exterior and Main Layers. If you have multiple Main Layers it will only allow you to choose the top Main Layer but as many Exterior Layers as you want. I was not able to come up with a combination to get it to work how you want it, but maybe that will help.
  2. I can think of multiple ways: Project Management keeps all your plan and layout files nicely contained in a single file location and it's easy to make copies of entire plans to work on without needing to rely on an external folder structure. This is how I do it. Anytime I have an idea or a client wants to see multiple options I just make a copy of my current plan and start working in a new plan and rename with a suffix of the plan change I'm making or something that differentiates it from the original. If you don't want to use Project Management and want to work within a single plan file: Make a copy of your plan and rename the new file to your liking Delete the roof and any other floors you aren't working on (keep the other floors if you have multiple floors to show options on) Select all and copy the floor you wish to edit Build or insert a new blank floor Paste and hold position Now you have an exact copy of the original floorplan just on a new level. Repeat as many times as desired and you can edit each level independently to illustrate your options. You can also make multiple copies of your plan file then export your 3D model as a 3D symbol then import each one into another plan file that contains all your floorplans with options in a single plan file. I don't know how effective this method would be, but you can follow the Modeling a Subdivision or Lot with Multiple Structures tutorial to see how to do that. The final challenge is when you have different options in different rooms in different plans and the client chooses options for rooms that aren't in the same plan.
  3. I exported the project and worked on it at home without issue. Forgot to re-export with the changes I made so I started working in the old file again this morning and the issue is still present. Thankfully I'm just brainstorming ideas on this and not facing any kind of deadline, so I just deleted the problematic plan file started over.
  4. I'm beginning to think it may be a corrupted file. The one I'm having issues with I just started working on this morning. I opened up another plan and it's been fine. The plan I'm having issues with starts acting up about 10 minutes after I open it. Once it acts up, I can save and close it then reopen and start working again, rinse and repeat.
  5. I've been having an issue today with the program becoming unresponsive. Not like a loading icon where I can't click or do anything. I'm trying to move and delete objects and after completing the action they will snap back into place. This is behavior I would expect for an online software if I had internet connection issues, but this is not that kind of software. Anyone else experiencing this?
  6. I use the method ericepv mentioned. Made my own screen panel. Recently had to also add cable railing and did that as a furred wall and overlapped it with the screen wall. Worked well. Railing is weird with doors though, so if I add a screen door, I have to insert my screen panel manually as millwork above the door and resize it to fit. Not too big of an issue, I just have to remember to move that panel if I relocate the door. I suppose I could make a panel that includes screen, a top rail, and cable if I remember.
  7. Check to make sure the layers for those objects are turned on in that camera view
  8. I like how easy it is to copy projects with Project Management because I sometimes make several iterations of a plan based on client requests. However, I currently work in the office 4 days a week, from home 1 day, and occasionally I'll do additional work from home in the evenings or weekends if I'm feeling particularly creative and don't want to lose the momentum. Since the projects aren't being saved to my companies OneDrive, I have gone home a few times now and realized I don't have access to the project because it was only being saved locally and vice-versa. I guess I need to remember to export the project whenever I need to work from different locations.
  9. Cliffs Builders is the in-house home builder for The Cliffs private luxury communities in South and North Carolina. We are in need of additional help to convert existing pdf plans to workable Chief Architect models. Construction sets including site plans and renderings may also be desired. This would be contracted per project. Remote work is fine, must have your own Chief Architect license. We are on X15.
