  1. Michael, By doing that, I only get the bottom cord running through to make my floor joist, not a web design like they say they will build. I ended up getting the roof truss right, then drawing a floor truss, and then blocking the 2 together. Thanks! Les
  2. I pulled a truss and started breaking lines and manually editing it and it seemed to work....
  3. Is there a way to build this truss in Chief without tediously doing it with cad lines? Like a setting in the auto trusses? m1.PDF
  4. Has anyone else ever had problems with crown moulding on cabinets? Every 3-4 jobs, i have a few upper or full height cabinets where it doesn't show. Height of cabinet, height off floor, or moulding offset will all be the same but it doesn't show. If I adjust anyone of those numbers 1/16" it will show but with a 1/16" offset. This particular plan, I copied the kitchen over into a new plan with walls and all to try to post just the kitchen (instead of the whole house) and it was fine in the new plan so there was no reason to post it.... The pic show the cabinet I have open. You can see that the pic does not show the moulding but it is showing in the dialogue box. Les
  5. This problem just started for me and I haven't even download X8 yet.......
  6. Can someone help me with a fire escape stair system? I've done some searching and haven't been able to find anything. I could modify a regular stairs if I could somehow get 2 rails running horizontally instead of balusters. So far have't been able to figure out how to do this.
  7. Thank you. I was just wondering if there was a quick work around. I definitely will submit a ticket. Les
  8. I understand that the texture and pattern are different. However, if I change pattern so it is right on the sides of windows, it would be wrong on the top. In other words, say we have a trim with wood grain, the wood grain would run only one way in the pattern view. If the pattern is horizontal, it will be wrong on the sides of window. The interesting thing is chief recognizes this is standard view but in vector, the one which is more important for elevations etc, the trim is as one piece around window and the pattern only runs one way. So, the only way to make it right, is to make a vertical molding and a horizontal molding and apply it to each window as needed, which like I said earlier, is time consuming. In other words, the automatic settings you can do in the window dialog for casing only works if you are painting the trim or for rendering. In my case, I want to show on the elevations how I want the brick to be laid around the window. I was hoping someone would know of a quick easy way they could share with me. Thanks, Les
  9. I understand turning the pattern 90 degrees. What I don't understand is the same material shows right in standard but wrong in vector. I guess the only way to do this to windows is make a manual molding (read, time consuming). les
  10. I am trying to show a raised brick accent (not sure of correct term) around some windows. I used the window dialog box, casing, set the depth etc, and used a brick material. In the standard view, it shows the brick wrapping around window the way it's supposed to be. In vector view, the one that's more important for elevations etc, it shows it all running the same way instead of turning on the sides. How do I fix this? Les
  11. I haven't spent much time on the forum lately but feel like I know most of the people who post on here. I think I know by seeing who posted a reply on whether it will be legit or not (actually, I can't think of anyone who I would just ignore the post because "they" posted it) I personally doubt I will ever rate something or even ever remember to look at the rating. So really, to me it's a non issue as I figure it will be to everyone after this thread dies.
  12. I zoomed in and it will snap from sheetrock to framing to framing to sheetrock but not center of wall. Been working on all the rest of the walls. Grid snaps are off.............. It just seems like sometimes I hit a stubborn one and wondered what tricks y'all have found to force it to work.......
  13. Can anyone tell me a trick to force a dimension to center on an interior wall? I have spent 10 minutes trying to get one right and haven't succeeded yet. Aggravating! I have fought a few before but never this long! Must be time to go to bed.............
