Auto-Filling Wall Tops Under Exposed Rafter Tails?
HumbleChief replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Thanks P, hope you're doing well! Tried a bunch of options but no love so far. Have t you ever had it work? -
Is there a way to do so other than manually pulling up each wall in 3D?
-
Thanks Mick, seems like the more I know the less I remember about Chief.
-
Thanks Mick, I'll give it a try - forgot to change my signature.
-
Thanks Jim!! Worked a treat but a bit confusing as the ceiling is already set to 144" and seem like there should be no need to 'balloon through ceiling above' as the ceiling is already 12 ft tall? Oh well. THANKS AGAIN!

Found this old thread but can't seem to get rafter color to change using this technique. I have exposed rafter tails that I would like to be brown instead of the default 'fir' color.

Vary helpful on the door!! I'll see if I can duplicate!

I haven't designed a turret entry for a while and am a bit stumped. I can get close to the attached pics (no need for the extra detail) but Chief is building the upper section a bit weird with no stucco finish and the arch into the entry seem to be defined by the door with more weird finishes. Would like to create an arched opening with the door behind in a separate wall? Any help greatly appreciated. Plan below https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/nin6hmyyfsxal3w6s722m/TURRET-1.plan?rlkey=665ifiu26a6mi50aysm688o5q&dl=0

I'm Done With Recessed Lights Snapping To Furniture...
HumbleChief replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Thanks!! I see it's been 'fixed'. -
...as if it were a wall. Gonna report it. Anyone else not so happy with this behavior?
-
Wasn't sure who to mark as the solution so thanks Tea and DB.

GOT IT! Saved the new symbol to the library one more time. THANK YOU again!!!
-
THANK YOU1 I seem to have it most of the way figured out but can't seem to get the label to auto generate without editing the CAD block then applying changes. Am I missing a step?
-
Thanks T but can't seem to get everything I'm looking for.

That behaves like other electrical symbols as in attaches to walls etc. I have a plan checker that needs a combination AFCi/GFCI like the Leviton AGTR1-0KW AFCI-GFCI Dual Function Outlet spec'd in kitchen/bath. Can a custom symbol be created that works like other electrical outlets? THANKS

Recessed Can Lights Turn Into Wall Lights?
HumbleChief replied to HumbleChief's topic in General Q & A
Thanks DB, looks like you're right but a real PIA. Might report it as a suggestion. -
Have had this happen numerous time but in this plan it seems to happen all over the plan. Any help greatly appreciated. Plan file below. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/0e34j69x0t345maf7st6o/WALL-LIGHT-1.plan?rlkey=jf8lihlv4ahf73u59tk9megpu&dl=0

Now, is there a way to express that 'label' in feet and inches?
-
THANK YOU so, so much for taking the time to explain that process. I had no idea adding a segment turned a line into a polyline and no idea there were options to label it and an object specific label option to show visible length. Must be a bit frustrating understanding those things so clearly and wondering why I'm not getting it but really had no clue and again, so much appreciate taking your valuable time to explain. Tried it and it worked a treat.
-
No change or editing handles even with polyline labels turned 'on'.
-
Thanks Rene, Are there editing handles on the text generated by the line 'show length' command? Don't see any. May try using a P-Line instead. Thanks Jason
-
Using the line 'show length' command kinda sorta works but the dim is located in spots that Chief likes but not my preference and doesn't seem to be movable/relocated.. The red arrows show the format using show line length and the blue arrows show my preferred format. Looks like some thing I could live with and save a couple steps?
-
MACRO.plan Thanks Joe, I think the request might be simpler in concept than in execution. I would simply like the line's length to be reflected in the dimension text, the callout symbol is not relevant nor a factor. Thank You again. MACRO.plan

I use the below image to note shear wall lengths and specs. Currently I have to go through each new length of shear wall and manually change the length to match the shear wall length. Is there a macro that will change the 4' - 0" text to match that new length? And round down to specified dim. fraction of almost always no fractions? Thank You
