  1. So I have my new computer set up and my libraries, hotkeys, toolbars, etc. all transferred over. So far things are running along fine and smoothly. I also added two top monitors to my system so I could use both large monitors for Chief. I love it! I will upload my computer details and my signature soon. My son, who built the computer said he would buy my graphics card once the newer cards come out that should help with rendering. Thank you again for everyone who offered advice and direction on the computer details.
  2. I will mess with it as I want to learn how to do everything. Thank you guys!
  3. I kept it recessed and then added 4" to the casing thickness as you first propose and that works perfectly.
  4. Thank you Steve! That was very helpful! I did add a thickness at one point, but it just got really thick on the outside, so I must need to mess with some of the options to get that to work. But I like the options you are also showing here.
  5. So I was able to get the depth to work and add my casing, but how did you get that "stacked molding" to work?
  6. I really do not need to show a 3D of the ceiling so I think I am fine. Thank you to everyone for jumping on this. I now know several ways to address this.
  7. I kind of figured it out. When I add a divide wall between the great room and the kitchen, I can select the great room only. Nice. Then I add the tray ceiling... and while the try is placed where it should be in the great room, the outer line of the tray against the wall, passes through the divide wall and into the kitchen, covering up the skylight. When I add a standard wall between the kitchen and the great room and add the tray, it works perfectly and the skylight hole is there. So something is messed up with the divide wall and the tray ceiling.
  8. I should add that I need the white trim to also go back toward the window as shown.
  9. Yes, I did add the casing to the side of the window in the window DBX. But I needed an additional casing to go over the brick. I did look and try some of the options to get the casing to span over the brick but nothing I tried worked. I do have a 1" casing on the window, and then a 5.5" casing over the brick. (which is just a square 4" x 5.5"
  10. I think I figured out how to make the 3D molding Line - I just made it small on one surface and then stretch into place. I would still like to know how to break and remove a 3D molding polyline
  11. I tried adding a 3 sided 3d molding to my garage opening for trim around the brick (what the client wants). but it seems to be snapping to different surfaces and gets funny, so I made a 3d molding polyline - worked perfectly for the front arch top windows. So I thought to do the same for the garage door and then just break and delete the bottom. But is there a way to break a polyline in two places and delete what you don't want?
  12. I got the same thing after rebuilding and adding a divider, added a new tray, then new skylight - no hole in ceiling
  13. I did have the tray over the dining and living at first, then removed a opening that separated the kitchen, that made one large room. I pulled the tray over the kitchen with the cleint, he did not like that so pulled it back. So I have had some messing with it. I will remove the tray and start again and see if that works.
  14. I added my first skylight and the help says it auto creates the ceiling hole. The shaft is created up to the top of the ceiling, but not through the ceiling. Thoughts? SND1833 Norm Jones Residence.plan
  15. Yes, I am taking advantage of the Shell layers to do my design, roofs, etc. Thank you
  16. I did see that. I will continue to fine tune my template(s) for this. I do have the sun follow, but that is the only change I made to camera - that I am aware of.
