  1. I have used AI last year a bit trying to get one of my models to have landscaping. I guess that is what is being discussed here. AI has come a long way in a year, but it still fails. One thing I was enjoying was how it would produce fun results for alternatives of the model image and text entered. But I finally walked away because that is all it ever was for me, fun. @robdyck said a lot in his last comment about landscape blocks, doing the work, etc.. I wouldn't trade my years of experience for something or someone else doing my job. I am afraid that the new generation will be depending on AI to produce their work. I guess it can just be another tool, but no thank you, I am enjoying figuring out the design as I move along. I don't mean to show off by showing this (maybe a little), but I feel like I have really challenged myself and accomplished something fun for the client. Is that a fun lake house or what? And I couldn't image drawing it with any other software.
  2. I think some of us, including myself, see the forum at times like an evening, sitting around a camp fire and shooting the bull. Some times we just like talking for talking sake For me, I was big into marketing and pushing all my social networks, until I got tired of speaking to the choir. The only thing I have now is the Chief forum and I have enjoyed being a part of it now for a number of years. I have more fun on it if I envision chatting around a camp fire
  3. Chris can speak for himself, but I am guessing he loves the look, as I do, the AI is producing in general You have to have a new and very nice Mac to pull off rendering in Chief.
  4. Make sure to give it a +1 so Chief knows more and more people want to see something updated. Thank you
  5. Maybe there are some AI apps that may be able to, but 6 months ago I messed with a number of them trying to get them to do landscaping and they often also mess with the house. You might be able to get AI to generate a background image only with some prompts that could work. I was trying to create an image out of Chief and put it into AI to generate landscaping and a background. Add an AI described background to the Chief model and I think that could work. Might have to mess with that.
  6. Very nice. Photoshop is pretty straight forward. I do like the idea of the extended terrain. That is a nice touch to blend in with a distant background. Great work!
  7. I looked closer at your green outlines and it looks like you took pictures of various areas and put them together - maybe with photoshop? Very cleaver!
  8. Wow! Now that is some amazing grade work. Is the grading actually done in Chief? Or is this an image of the property before there was a house? Very impressive! I cannot think of how you did this
  9. I'm very happy with this solution! Great job. The one below I understand and its great for something on a curve! Thank you!
  10. Here is one way using Point Markers because they have their own layer. You can use the Copy Multiple and then hide the markers layer. https://my-plan.stevenyhofdesigns.com/v/BiGwE0OYt2Y4GotbH0PV
  11. Does anyone have a way to create evenly spaced points between two points? But not using the Copy Multiple tool. I was even hoping a block would work and then I could stretch between the two points, but you cannot snap to the lines in the block or symbol. In AutoCAD I made up a number of Construction lines where I could very quickly get some evenly spaced lines and with a hotkey just as easily remove them. With the Copy Multiple tool it is not always easy to remove the lines from around the cabinets, lockers, etc that I use it for. It works fine, but thought there might be a more intuitive way to create temporary lines, spaces, snap points - ideas??? https://my-plan.stevenyhofdesigns.com/v/Llb9x5YzRA38LdBPznMA Thank you, Steve
  12. When I clicked on the Auto Detail button - see image - I had a DBX asking for one things or another. How do I reset this so I get this DBX to popup again? I want to check the component fill options. Thank you
  13. The template is in the very first post on Page 1. I highly recommend that you follow my steps exactly so you get my same results.
  14. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XJo7gJ9_KXpR-Pp0COgzfKdpmXtVjPE_/view?usp=sharing In the link is this Library. Download the file and drag it into your drawing.
  15. Honestly, I deleted the 2D shadow trees from my personal Library. Just click on the link in the first page in this thread (I see it above). But they do not cast as nice of a shadow as 3D trees do. Follow my first steps in the beginning of this thread as I add 3D trees for shadows.
  16. I don’t use TM any more. Check in the grass / plants area. It’s a sub menu
  17. Correct, I updated my language above This is what I find. I never question Michael, and I do always learn from him. This is what I am learning for being able to change the garage door into a Door. https://my-plan.stevenyhofdesigns.com/v/HjmT6E57Z2hjPRpM0LMZ
  18. I did not know there was an option for Add to Library As tool. Going to look into that. Thank you
  19. Non of my doors used Doorway as a symbol from the start. I tried that and that is goofy. The video above shows how I make a door symbol and use that to generate the same panel garage door, and that symbol shows up in the DBX in the Library list, again because it is a symbol. Once the Door symbol is made and put into a wall, you can open the garage door and change all the settings you want and then save that to the Library. This now is only a garage door and can only be inserted into a wall from the library and not from the DBX library list (it is no longer a symbol). You can still open it in the Library and change its settings as a garage door. IF HOWEVER, you create a full sized garage door (7' x 18') as a Door symbol it will show up in the DBX library list. But only as a symbol, and you cannot change the settings like you can in the example above. So, if you want to be able to swap out full garage doors you would want to create a Door symbol as a full size garage door and leave it as a symbol. The doors that have the row of glass in them where saved as a full size garage door symbol, but then I still adjusted the settings I wanted and saved that to the Library so that when I inserted it into a wall, all my garage door settings were in place. When I have a client that wants to change a 16' wide garage door to an 18' garage door, I delete the existing door and add the new 18' wide garage door from the library. By doing it this way I know that all my default settings will come with that garage door when it is placed and I have nothing to change. It would be nice if I could swap out a garage door from the DBX or the library tool because I would not need to relocate the door or attach the dimension again.
  20. @Chrisb222 So based on my videos, what am I missing on my doors that could make them work? Thank you
  21. What I am finding is that it needs to be a symbol to show up in the DBX https://my-plan.stevenyhofdesigns.com/v/W7xS5a3le3OoCEuhaSUw Here is more of why the one works and the other does not https://my-plan.stevenyhofdesigns.com/v/LfjOvLqiaAst1tXNT5CT
