  1. Robert, thanks for the input. I'll try that when I get back to that project and let you know if it worked for me.
  2. That's what I need but I can't get it with the stair arrangement I have. I talked to Vince at CA tech support and he said this is a known issue with the Railing and Deck Tools. He added my name to the trouble ticket. The plan file is too big to attach but here is a picture of the stair arrangement. I've had trouble with the wall below the middle rail disappearing and with the the rail coming through the upper platform and railing when I use the "auto" stair rail. Those reasons are why I switched to the desk and rail tool.
  3. I've tried all dbx setting combinations I can think of, looked through the discussion topics, and on the FB user group - can't find a solution to get my balusters to go down to the stair treads. I see a few pictures of this type of application but can't figure out how to do it. I turned the auto-rail off and am using the railing tool. Any help with this is appreciated.
  4. Thanks so much. That did it!
  5. I've been working on this staircase for a couple of days. I've got it about the way the customer wants it except I need stair section 1-2 (ref. attachment) to have winders to the walls. I need the upper curved stairs to go against a curved wall so my first and second floor walls are curved accordingly. But, even though "Winders" is checked in the DBX, the lower winders do not appear. Ideally, I'd like to be able to turn "Winders" on for just one section but CA doesn't seem to allow that. When stair sections are joined (like 1-1, 1-2, 1-3,...) "Winders" is either on or off for all. Is there a way to create separate stair sections (like 1,2,3,...) and turn on winders for one section? Or another way to accomplish what I need?
  6. I've never used the symbol options before. I looked through the CA helps and did see any reference to this (may have missed it). Thanks so much for the solution! Just what I needed.
  7. I would like to be able to display a dishwasher and disposal outlet in the position shown on the attachment (back of the cabinet). The way I got this to work is to insert a wall, place the outlet, make it invisible, and turn off the invisible wall display. Is there an easier way? Outlets can be placed on the side of the island cabinet, why not on the back?
  8. Thanks for looking at this and providing an explanation. I will take a look at what you have described.
  9. Renerabbitt, Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I just started using x13 today.
  10. Renerabbitt, I was able to adjust specification settings (unchecked "clip to room" and changed "top clip elevation") and get the elevation that I was looking for. This is the only wall elevation out of about 15 that did not generate correctly. Any ideas why?
  11. As you mention, I did not save all camera views (even the wall elevation that does not generate correctly). I'm using the wall elevation camera and the bounding section lines end at the walls on each side of the room. I'm not sure what you mean by "move in elevation". I've adjusted the camera forward, back, left and right...no change in the elevation view.
  12. I need some input on why a wall elevation will not display. Per the plan view, Elevation 24 cuts off 4"+ above the floor. I've deleted and tried to do a new elevation but it does the same thing. Both cross section and elevation views show the correct view. Am I missing something? 247856770_MaysRev2.plan
  13. I made changes in my Profile but not in my signature. It should be good now. Thanks for the reminder.
  14. I've searched the forum topics and training videos but can't find anything specific on this, so I'm requesting input on a few stair rail quandaries. Per the attachment: 1, I'd like to stop my stair rail when it butts to the 2nd floor platform but still have balusters in the triangle space below the platform 2. The railing continues through the platform and will not allow the upper railing (shown in the camera views) to extend to the top of the stairs 3. I've used an invisible wall at the top of the stairs and there is a lone framing member displayed where a newel post should go. How can I get rid of the framing member and place a newel post?
  15. Joe, I use the "?" regularly but I've never got to it from selecting the item and clicking F1. Thanks for the tip.
  16. Thanks solver! That was too easy.
  17. What is the best way to get the wide(left) side of these curved stairs to go into the wall corner?
  18. I don't think they will be able to either. I submitted it to them yesterday. We will see if madcowscarnival is on the right track.
  19. I was able to get a 4 1/2:12 cathedral ceiling plane to allow the truss build (13'-6" at the ceiling peak). Now to see if the truss maker can do it. Thanks Eric and javatom!
  20. javatom, You are right about checking. The main (6:12) roof bears on the front and back walls. As Eric mentions, I should be able to gain some depth somehow. I will post what I come up with.
  21. As you show, I tried moving the front ceiling plane down a couple of inches. I need the bottom of each plane to sit on the 8 foot top plate and the ceiling plane peak to be in the middle of the living room. I've also tried dropping the slope from 6:12 to 5:12 with no success. I see where the problem lies and will create the space somehow. Thank you for taking a look.
  22. I've created a cathedral ceiling over a living room but cannot get the trusses to span across all of it. Per the attachment, they begin properly at the back of the living room, cross the peak of the cathedral ceiling, then stop at a roof pitch change. I've tried rejoining the roof planes and ceiling planes but am not able to figure out why the truss stops at the roof pitch change. My truss top chord is 7 1/8" for insulation purposes. Any ideas or suggestions? I will send the plan file if needed.
  23. Solver, I stepped through both videos you provided as I cleaned up roof openings and interior walls. Again, thanks so much!
  24. Eric, Thanks so much for the video! I will be spending some time on going through your advice.
