view title/callout. as you know, the default callout thats gets generated when sent to layout is something like "electrical plan view", "floorplan view" etc.
-
Guys, what should i input in the search for these? Im having no luck. Surely these can be generated by chief? As always thanks. I know where the north icons are but do we have this exact type showing all directions?
-
Thanks! I originally had the ridge running east and west like u have but the client wanted it ran opposite. Good suggestions tho everyone.
-
Fascia's are different heights due to a 24" increase overall in ceiling heights. I went up to 10' walls with a 12" air gap for drop ceiling per the clients request. Existing building/home has 8' ceilings throughout.
-
basically join the blue and black roof planes where they intersect.
-
i'm not extremely happy with it but i'm going with the jogs in the roof line. when i cut my wall sections this is when autocad comes into play and i can manipulate a cleaner view. it is what it is and what the client wants. a good builder will make this perfect. i'm not settling, i'm a perfectionist but you gotta know when to move on and get the plans done.
-
is it possible to trim the blue with the black? this accomplishes a clean roof plan and it also prevents the existing roof from coming down into the new addition. thats what i meant when i said it gets nasty. from the top of looks good. from the underside not so much.
-
good suggestions......i will try those and post a pic of what i came out with.
-
i understand what you are getting across. but i can't remove anything from the existing roof. i can jog it in way of what i have circled green but i doubt they will reframe it as clean as you made it. im just wondering if the right circle will hold water too. hmmmmm
-
The client called today and wants the rear of the addition a hip. It was a gable. The green doesnt represent the roof, just overall addition. I broke the lines on the new roof planes and it looked good from above but once u cut a section the existing roof looks horrible. Pretty sure they wont remove any of the existing roof to tie all this in.
-
another view, arial, green is addition i'm adding.
-
oh boy, i'm pretty good with roof planes but this one has got me. attached is the plan file for an addition to a home used as a veterinarian. the existing home has 8:12 pitch. the rear addition will be a hip of 4:12 and i have to make this work. it creates a nasty roof plan no matter what. i have to think realistically and know that the existing roof will be covered by the new addition roof. if i'm not clear just let me know. anyone wanna take a shot at this? it's horrible. the pic shows the rear of the home that attaches to the addition. chimney will be removed once project has started. thanks guys. also, what makes it even more fun is the new addition will be 9' drop ceilings. the existing home is 8' drywall ceilings so im catching hell all around. haha vet.plan

For the people like myself who are self taught and fairly new to the software it takes time to get to the point where you are comfortable giving back and make sure you are giving the right information. When u see a post from me you can be assured i have done my homework and searched CA for videos and other files. Sometimes people on the forum say just the right thing that is alot clearer than what on search or videos. I come here as a last resort. There are times i dont even know what to type in the search line because i dont know the right words to hit the subject, then I come here.

solved.......i get it now.....never thought of doing it this way. thanks david & joey.

you the man! i "opened object" on the chainlink panel and didn't see the railing option which is why i am here. obviously im looking at the wrong place to do so?
-
what about your top rail?
-
cool, let me try that......thanks
-
they have JUST the chainlink, no poles. i could be wrong tho or i need to build the poles into the fencing
-
i've got a project requiring chain link fencing. i downloaded from 3d warehouse (sketchup) a chainlink panel. it bogs down the plan file big time. how do you guys go about setting this up?
-
Yes, i was speaking of the border. Thanks
-
why are my interior elevations on vector view in the plan file but when i send them to layout it comes in as technical illustration? arghhhhh
-
THIS!!!!⬆️⬆️⬆️

Thanks guys. I watched the video on CA and it was explained well. However the offsets the narrator used doesn't perain to all designs. She never even explained how she got her offsets.
-
does anyone have an easy way they calculate their offsets for drop ceilings. the framing needs to start at the wall. i got one room fixed after about a half hour of trial and error but there has got to be an easier way.

good to know guys. my son does recording from online games and he can record while playing in the program itself then immediately upload to youtube.
