Ok, what I came up with is to put them on a layer set as Ii usually do but copy and paste to the second floor. But what I didn't know is that I can cut and paste "Hold Position" and it will be same as first floor.
That works unless someone has an even better idea?

Just use a callout, put them on their own layer and in the callout DBX, select "Display on all floors"
I put them on their own layer set but don't see in the dbx where to display them on all floor?

I'm not sure what the technical term is but I call them "Reference Lines" (refer to attached picture to see what I'm talking about).
My question is;
Is there a way to put these reference lines on the first floor plan and have them show up automatically on the other floors without having to manually put them on each floor? I put these in on all my drawings manually and I hope I'm not missing something simple. I thought there should be an option or tool to automatically generate reference lines but I haven't found anything yet.

On an addition they only calc out the effected area in the T24 energy

Joe,
I use Circles for Doors, Hexagons for Windows, Octagons for Cabinets and Squares for Appliances.
I guess just being consistent is most important. I appreciate all the input. Although since I have been on the forum I have changed the way I do things on several items. Hoping that I can be of help to others at some point.

I don't always show existing windows and doors for the entire house but when your doing Historical houses you have to show everything for the planning commission.

Along the same line as what Glenn is doing. Build 2 3 story homes. On house one, only walls on level 1. On house two, only walls on level 3. Now make the f.f. if level one of house one @ 10', and the f.f. of house 2 3rd floor at 0.0.
Point is we can have the third floor of house two lower than first floor of house one.
I know, pretty stupid stuff, but it is something to do to help us understand floor levels...... but it has nothing to do with Jim's query.
Well.....I suck at golf so I may as well be doing stupid stuff with CA to pass my time.
Seriously though I learn a lot when we tangent off on some of these issues.

I'm not an expert on cabinets but what about the "Glass Hose" view? I know it shows the shelving in the cabinets but I don't know how that would exactly help you. You can put in a extra page just for the view to see what in the cabinets. Not sure, just a thought.
I guess the glass house option could help you to quickly draw your cad lines maybe.
I will use the name Joey seeing how we already have a Joe

Jim,
I glad to find out that you cant change the CA 97 1/8 because I spent hours one day trying to do that myself. I thought I was missing something simple and I was going nuts.

The city historical team is driving me nuts! They wan the window labels to be in order going around the house. Can I change that some how?
-
Perry,
I like that you use circles instead of squares for your window callout labels. It looks better on the elevations. Do you have a paten on that? HaHa
Thank You

Can anyone tell me how to write into the comments on the window schedule?

Yes, things get a little messed up and missed placed but so far not to bad. Easy to fix

I'm with you Charlie. You need all those measuring tools. Just a laser don't cut it by itself and it doesn't work to good in the sun or for outside to outside corners. As for the electronics ipad I think pen and paper is simpler than messing around with a screen you are trying to see in the sun and sweating all over it. Might work fine inside. Also if the batteries goes dead your in trouble.
Reference Lines

I don't need to dimension off them. I just use them to reference the wall for the structural calculations. Its funny I have never use the Paste Hold Position. New it was there but I guess I never thought about how it could help me,
Thanks Joe
