No room definitions on 2nd floor over garage
EconBlueprints replied to EconBlueprints's topic in General Q & A
Thanks! It seems I always overlook the obvious. -
Hello, In the attached plan, on the 2nd floor level, I cannot open any of the spaces above the garage. What am I missing? Thanks, Lane Plan_One.plan

Thats it! Thanks!

I found out how to add a Revision to the Revision Table. How do I change a mistake I made in one of the Revisions in the Revision Table? Thanks, Lane

Is there a way to have different rafters in different rooms? I have one room where I need the rafters to be 2x6, and another to be 2x10. Also, in the attached plan, the first floor plan view ceiling height for the garage wants to be 96", Top Of Slab (Floor) to Bottom of drywall. Ceiling height is set @ 96-5/8" Drywall is set @ 5/8" When I open the Rooms Specification Dialog box, under "Relative Heights" The Ceiling is set at 96 5/8", but in the diagram section to the right it shows that same dimension as 95 1/8". For the Finished Ceiling, the Dialog Box is set at 96", but in the diagram section it shows as 94 1/2". How do I set it up so the finished ceiling is actually 96" and it will also show up as 96" in the Elevation View (E1) and the story pole to the correct dimension? Plan is attached. I cannot get the floor surfaces to show in overviews....all I see is OSB, not the finish floor. I turned on "Floor Surfaces" in every place I can think of, but I must be missing something. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Hello. Version 10 had some great images I would like to use in X11, particularly a cupola and weathervane. Who knows why X11 left it out but apparently it did. So my question is this, can I load my old V10 on my computer, then import the library from V10 into X11? Thanks, Lane

I figured it out, but I do not know how to delete the previous question.

Why do the layout box borders exceed the size of the item when sent to the layout? All of the building code notes I make are inserted in a rectangular polyline, which is 22' Wide x whatever height is needed to contain the contents. After the text is inserted into the polyline, the entire thing is made into a block and saved as a cad block in the drawing. I open the Cad block (not explode but open the block) so it can be sent to the layout. When they get there, some of the layout borders for the individual blocks extends beyond the block itself. This means an extra step in aligning everything, since alignment is apparently based on the layout border, and not the contents withing the layout border. Is there a way to ensure that the blocks and the layout border are the same size? Thanks, Lane

Is there a way to alter siding dimensions? For instance, the shake siding looks like the rows are 12" apart. I would like to get them to show as 7" apart. Thanks, Lane

I drew the 1st floor of an existing structure. Finished ceiling height on 1st floor is 109", so I set the ceiling height on the first floor to 109". Next, I built the 2nd floor. 2nd floor ceiling height is 86" so I set the 2nd floor to 86". As soon as I generated the 2nd floor, the first floor reverts to 97-1/8". How do I build the second floor without it affecting the 1st floor? Thanks, Lane

Bob, I am going to give that a shot. But I think Eric is on the right track about the framing being a bit removed from the building. But, instead of moving the framing back, I am going to draw in a piece of sheathing between the deck ledger and the rim board to see if that makes the connection so Chief can orient things. Thanks!
-
Bob, I did the framing for the deck joists manually. Chief does not recognize that sheathing goes between the deck ledger and the building rim joist. So maybe that is the issue? I have to do the framing with the deck ledger touching the rim joist?

Eric, In the elevation view, the deck flooring sits level with the first floor sub floor. In the Structure panel, it is set to sit 5" below the sub floor. There is also a gap between the deck flooring and the deck structure. In the structure panel for the deck, it shows a foundation under the deck. It all looks fine in the Plan Views, the problem is in the elevation views and trying to correct the deck planking elevation.

This house has a fireplace which extends into an exterior deck. The issue is the fireplace foundation shows up under the Deck in the Room specification dialog box in the "structure" tab. How can I separate the "Deck Room" from the fireplace foundation? The deck should build around the fireplace foundation, instead it builds over the fireplace foundation and treats the entire deck area as though it was over a room. Plan is attached. Thanks in advance Plan_3_Plan_file.plan

I am working on a floor plan. I am in the Floor Plan Dimensioned Layer and Floor Plan Dimensioned Layer Set. When I click on Persepective Floor Overview, the Layer Set Switches to Electrical Layer Set. If I change it back to Floor Plan Dimensioned Layer Set, the overview changes from Floor Overview to Full overview showing the complete exterior and roof of the building. How do I set the program so it will not automatically switch to Electrical Layer Set. In Plan Defaults, I have it set to Floor Plan Dimensioned as the active layer, however that also switches to Electrical Layer Set whenever I try to do a floor plan overview. How can I fix this? Thanks,' Lane
