I have received something very similar, twice, from two different accounts, in the past 60 days.

All the models in this shot are standard CA ones, even the grass. The adjustments I made to the light and colors where global, did not mask out anything.
It definitely looks good. Might be the angle then? I have found that for me PBR behaves very strange. With the camera positioned one way the materials reflection look great, facing a whole different direction the bump maps finally come out etc.
I use PBR on a daily basis with clients for a quick look and clients always seem impressed especially if I invest some time to adjust lights etc.
I have been using VRAY lately and I am truly enjoying it but it is a much longer process.

Just minor adjustment to highlights, shadows and saturation, nothing major, took maybe 1 - minute. Same changes could have been done in the windows photo app. Be assurred that the actual camera one was also adjusted.
Personally, the rendering engines are attempting to match the quality of a camera, hence the term "Photo Realistic".
Absolutely I agree, I asked about photoshop because I thought your furniture and grass looked very good

I am assuming the PBR is photoshopped ?
It is interesting that with renderings we are trying to get them as real as possible while with photography we are trying to get as detailed as possible translating into making it look like a rendering lol

I wasn’t trying to suggest that you trace anything. I was suggesting you use the reference display—period. Just set it to use the appropriate floor and then set your reference display layer set to only display the appropriate item(s).
I wasn't aware we could do that. Thank you very much. I'll look into it.

Reference Display
Thank you! Generally I use the reference display trace the porch with cad lines but I guess I was wondering if there was a better, easier way.

I am working on a layout plan and I was wondering if there is a way to show the porches on the foundation layer (Floor 0)?

George thank you for sharing.

@rispgiu With x11 our user library can be in a cloud location for accessing from multiple computers. The conflicted copies will only come into play when more than one concurrent instance of Chief is accessing that file. If you have only one license and only using Chief from one location at a time, you'll be fine. You should only need to direct Chief in the preferences where your user library is located. Do this on each of the computers you use for Chief.
Thank you Dianne, as matter of fact I have had no issues so far.

Rene, Do you think you could do a short video about your technique?

When a job demands that level of detail and a large number of high res materials I typically render outside of CA but the method is still the same-
You have to create material ID Vector masks and shoot a scene a handful of 4k/8k/16k materials at a time and then swap each material in with your final product in photoshop utilizing the vector mask.
I explain the ID mask in the PBR video I think you both watched and also here:
An example scene from this method- turned this into a fake canvas painting-haha
Yes, this makes a lot of sense.
Thank you

Thank you for the compliments, means a lot to me!
Without having tried it before with iCloud specifically, I think what you’ll run into is conflicted copies of the user folder if one Mac is still writing to disc while the other is opened up to CA...it can be tough to avoid...hence the need for the two folders.
when one folder conflicts with another in windows it saves both but renames the new folder which CA won’t recognize. If it goes unnoticed people tend to lose a symbol and when they need it most it’s buried in a renamed user folder or even overwritten and lost to the abyss.
thats the main reason for that vid.
I have limited experience with CA in Mac as we donated our MacBook this year
Rene I had not thought of that. Do you think I could possibly have an issue even though I only have 1 license?
-
Rene, I lied, I already looked at it lol I couldn't wait
It looks great, very very informative I really do enjoy the way you explain things and your thoughts processes are very similar to mine so for me it is easy to follow.
BTW although my name has an E at the end the pronunciation is JUICE-eh'-peh

I AM CHECKING THE POLL TO SEE WHAT CONTENT IS MOST DESIRED..SO HERE'S
A VIDEO SPECIFICALLY FOR @rispgiu
WITH A MATERIAL FILE MADE FROM THE VIDEO
A VIDEO SPECIFICALLY FOR BARRY WITH A SURPRISE TIP TOWARD THE END:
Thank you Rene, I will look at it through the weekend, I am very excited
BTW about the folders between my two Macs, I realized that I did not need to have two folders, at least I don't think. So I have moved everything to my iCloud folder (I have retained a copy of the originals just in case) Nowthe same files and materials that are on my iMac are also on my Macbook.

We use 2K texures and slows down CA quite considerably.
Thank you

Has anyone used 4k PBR textures?
do they make Chief inoperable?
I do realize it might depend on my machine but I was trying to gather some ideas, thank you

The term gradients was used incorrectly in the video. Just different shades of grey. Yes made in photoshop with the paint bucket tool.. simple solid colors. I used a Gradient from black to white as my ambient occlusion map for gyp. bd walls less than 10' tall- that is included in the kitchen material starter pack.
You can post an image file here, else if for some reason your files are too large you can share with onedrive/backup and sync/dropbox etc.
Here is a couple of texture I'd like to develop. If you wouldn't mind explaining the way you do it and concept behind it, or refer me to some videos, I would greatly appreciated
-
Rene how would you prefer I share the files with you? Also in what format would you prefer them?
In your video I noticed you had several levels of ambient occlusion,I believe I heard you say those are gradients, did you make those in Photoshop? and if so what criteria did you use?
-
Ok, will do, thx.

I do use photoshop. SO you have at least one person interested in your videos
Fishy emails looking for architectural services
in General Q & A
Posted
Mine didn’t have the typical lingo of the Nigerian prince, honestly it seemed fishy from the start but what it did make it somewhat believable was the fact that this person mentioned a lot and location.
I didn’t believe it from the start but my I thought I would answer to
bis emails and see where it would lead. Well it lead to him asking me for a bid and if I would accept credit card, when I asked for a check he declined and said he was at the hospital dealing with a back surgery and that his wife had covid-19 lol
Who in their right minds would want to design or build a home while going through that lol
the second guy it was a mixtures if emails and phone calls, long story short he wanted to build apartments in my area, he didn’t have any land, nor did he know where to build and wanted to know how much money I was ready to invest.
Anyhow I hope this helps someone
