Does anyone now how to change the default layer of an item (fixture, appliance, etc.)? Since we do a lot of AV and surround sound work during our remodels, I created a new layer set "Audio Visual Set". I added several fixtures to the plan such as speakers, TV, receivers, etc. which by default are either on the "Furniture, Interior set or the Fixture, Interior" set. I want to set these fixtures to my new AV layer set as the default. I put them into a plan and then opened each item and just change the layer set but it does not change the default. Without having the default layer changed, I am having to change each one every time i use one. Thanks Rob

I know I can adjust the colors of the symbols in the layers but wanted to know how to change the letter "R" in the middle of a recessed can to a letter "L" . just not sure how to do that. I have projects where some of the lighting is staying, some is staying but being moved a few inches or feet, some that is new. I was hoping I didn't have to build new layers for each. I would be alot better off with being able to change the letter and then refer to a legend as what is the plan for that item.

Is it possible to change the color of a symbol? Not the material that the symbol represents. As you know a wall outlet, switch, can light symbols are red by default in plan view. I would like to have a set or sets of symbols that are different color such as blue for existing, green for relocation required, etc. Being able to show what outlet is a backsplash outlet versus an outlet under a sink you don't know in plan view unless yo open it and look at the elevation off floor. Go one further, replace the R in the middle of the default recessed can symbol with an E for existing or an L for LED, etc.

Thanks. I was trying not to have to do a custom every time I bumped cabinets in and out. Same thing happens with crown and skirt trim when cabinets are bumped a few inches in and out. Must be a Chief thing that I was was fixed.

Not sure if im missing something simple here. As you can see in the attached pic, I have an interior wall intersection into an exterior wall. I need to have the framing continue seamlessly from the exterior to the interior. I have object snap on, I have tried to use the connect wall tool, the build wall / fix wall connection tool and tried to rebuild walls with no movement / alignment.
Thank you for input

You can also leave the top a door. Make the bottom a drawer but use the same matching door front as a drawer face then you can move the hardware independent. I do this all the time and it works fine.

I am working on a plan that a previous design intern started and for the life of me I can figure out the issue with the room heights. The kitchen is a default 9'. I am stack cabinets in the kitchen and have a 90" tall cabinet with a 15" wall cabinet sitting on top of it. (105") I have the crown offset 3" past the top of the cabinet as I have done for years. With the additional 3" of height I should be at 108" and the crown hitting the ceiling but it's coming up short by 7/8". As a test i placed a soffit on the slab in the middle of the room that was 108" tall and it does hit the ceiling. None of the cabinet s are set to use the finished floor as we install our cabinets being flooring goes in. I've uploaded some screen shots and the plan to see if anyone sees the issue. Ive never had this happen before and the plan template is the same one if have been using for years moving from X-2 to now.
Thanks

Best Computer for running Cheif
in General Q & A

Vinnie,
I have gone through this a few times over the years and until now, CA always seemed to get the best of my PC configurations. This time, I did more research and did spend a little more but my PC now is a beast and I am running both CA and 20-20 on it at the same time. Raytraces that used to take hours to get high end renderings now take minutes. See my specs below. Hope this helps
