I took a minute to pull up the old Lake House plan I did. I was correct, in that I did the porch room with no ceiling, then added the ceiling plane, made it curved, played with the heights etc. until I got it to work. Something didn't work just exactly right, but I couldn't remember what I did to fix it. I think it had to do with the config of the porch room, but I do remember I use the break tool to break the plane and drag it back into the areas needed. See if this is what you're attempting, and if it helps? I would post the plan this came off of, but this was back in 2015, and that file is missing somewhere in my files and I was unable to drag it out. I had the (messed up plan file) saved in drop box but is a mess, and I never spent the time back then to straighten all the issues out. Glenn Woodward helped me work out the roof on the corrected plan I did for construction and that's the one I had saved on an external hard drive packed away somewhere?!?!?

Newell, have you tried a ceiling plane barrel vault (arched). I did some similar on a 2015 lake house project. I haven't had opportunity to open that plan file and try to remember how I did it. I think I did no ceiling in the porch vault, then used the ceiling plane tool to make the radius vault. So much to do today, I may not have the time to open it up but if I do I'll see if I can post something?

Diane, I believe you need to go to Project Browser, you have that tool already, that opens saved plan views.

Karen, you have to save and close the plan file before you post the plan, there is no data in the file you posted.

Not sure what you're after, but; I wonder what would happen (if this is what you're trying to achieve) if you do a copy and paste in place then use the transform -replicate tool, and in the "X" axis move it up the distance from the lower floor to the height of the finished floor above? Is that what you are trying to do? -
Kaemingk, see the link to the topic on how to fill out your signature. If you go to your profile, select it, then drop down and select account settings, then look for a drop down usually on the lower left of that page, select signature and just fill out the info. Be sure and make your signature visible

Can you still access it from the old file? You could always import it as a new material and add it to your user library I think?

Please fill out your signature with the software you are using, also Computer info would help. Go to your profile, select it, select account settings, then in the next drop down menu, select signature. Be sure to make it viewable. You should check to be sure you have no walls set as no room definition. (Edit) Eric beat me too it! I assume all your walls are connected too?

Eric, when you opened his plan, did you get a (serious) error message? I've had that happen more than once on different plan files I attempted to open from the forum?

I believe this question has been asked before and I did a quick forum search but didn't find it. I believe you will have to place the 3 way symbol on each floor at the stair, and place a note on each floor to that switch, stating the 3 way connects the first and second floor to the stairwell light or etc.BTW it would be helpful if you would go to your Profile, select it, then select settings, then Signature and fill out your signature, and include the Soft ware version you're using along with your computer info for future post and speedier answers.

One additional item we use when sending files out this way is a "release and indemnification" for the Client or engineer or whomever to sign. It can be simple, but basically holds you the designer harmless if the files are used and say you updated your back grounds because the client changes something but the Engineer isn't aware of it, then he turns around and wants to charge the customer add fees for correcting his plans, and the customer wants you to pay for it.

Diane, select your profile, drop menu opens select settings, drop down opens on lower left of page select signature, and fill it out from there.

Check your layer settings to make sure you have fixtures, interior turned on in the layer you are in. Do you mind filling out your signature, with the software version you're using and a little info on your hardware / computer specs will help. Go to your profile and select it>then in the drop down do down to settings, then in the drop down that opens on the lower left hand of your screen, select Signature, and fill in as much info as you can. Not absolutely sure what you are after (book match would be more like side by side mirror image in my world) if you are using the custom counter top you should be able to do a 2D plan view of it, then copy in place and use reflect about the edge of the first top. Is that what you are after? What version of Interiors are you using. You mind filling out your signature? Go to your profile, select it> then account settings> then a drop down will open on the lower left hand side of your screen, select signature, and then fill it out.

Steve, great video. I know a lot of what the long time users (especially those who use CA in their profession) can do with Chief Architect amazes me. I wouldn't know where to begin to do what you did with the roof on this project and how you knew to do what you did do? You guy's make it SEEM so easy?!?!?!

You know you can rent (to own) or monthly, but if you do, you will be hooked! I'm using it more now than I have in the past 5 years, and that's because my boss found out I have it, and he could save some bucks doing design build now vs paying the Arch fees. Thumbs up for X11!

Oostin, you do need to post the plan as Eric said. If you do, just be sure to save and close the plan before posting. If the file is too large you should be able to zip it.

I'm pretty sure, solver (already knows what to do) and he can help you fix what you need, but it's always helpful if you post the plan. You also need to fill out your signature as he suggests. If you'll go to your profile and select it, then go down the drop down menu to >settings, then a drop down menu on the lower left side will open, just scroll down a bit and select> Signature, and enter the software vs, along with your Hardware that too will assist the helpers-help you. (EDIT) the angled lines in the corner are most likely the intersecting valleys. Not sure exactly how to fix that but I'm sure it's simple enough, Another reason to post your plan.

You say, your current laptop is running Designer Suite Software". I assume by that you meant the Home Designer Software not Chief Architect. There is another forum for those questions. https://hometalk.chiefarchitect.com/ If you check the hardware requirements on the Home Designer web site, it will provide the minimum requirements for running the software version you have. Most times if you bump it up a bit, in the laptop or desktop you are looking at it should be plenty to handle HDS. When you say significant issues, depending on how old your machine is, you may need to look at the Video Card it is using, and also be sure all your drivers (especially if it is 3D or other camera view issues) are updated to the latest driver. Javatom is probably correct, back in the day, you couldn't name any spaces in the attic, unless you made it a floor (floor 2 or floor 3) set the ceiling height to a height, would allow the attic wall to sit on the top plate. If that is still the case, you will need to create text boxes and place them in the spaces, you want to name? (EDIT) Check this article out: www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00979

Did you open the pony wall dbx and don't see anywhere to set / change the bottom elevation of the rebate for the brick ledge? If you would, go to your profile, select and open it, then drop down to account settings and select, then on the lower left hand you will see "signature" please fill out your signature to include your computer hardware info, (I see you're using X9) but that would be helpful to include in your signature as well? You should post the plan and most likely (if you don't get an answer without it) you'll have a better chance of getting a quick answer.

When Mick spoke of "pointing CA at a Folder" he's most likely speaking of grabbing Textures and Materials from a folder you can create or have access to that you can import Textures and Materials from to use to modify CA Cabinets? Mitch, give a look at the Knowledge Base and other user helps (videos) start here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00767 You can build a library of "Materials and Textures" that you can use to modify cabinets (perhaps). Here is a potential help: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-00446 on customizing cabinets and adding them to your user library. There is a whole list if helps under keyword "Library" you need to check out also. Also, you can go to the 3D warehouse 3dwarehouse.sketchup.com. These symbols are created by users of Sketch up. The format allows you to save it to a folder and allows you to import (may not be the correct word) into your design, but; because it isn't created with CA, while you can possibly make some adjustments to the symbol to fit what you need in CA, you won't necessarily be able to change some aspects to meet exactly what you're looking to do, nor will it most likely be in a material or any sort of cut list. Go to their web site and enter search for key words: cabinets european_style kitchen and you'll see what I mean. Hope this helps some.
