Hi Gang,
I actually scored these while searching the forum for grass, from a link posted by Alan Lehman here on the forum January 2015. Thank you Alan for finding this and sharing in the first place!
here is the link, http://www.brusheezy.com/textures/20185-seamless-green-grass-textures
Also here is the grass that I used, plus the bump map.
Happy raytracing
Scott,
I have not used Lumion, I used to use Artlantis several years ago when chief was using povray engine.
I am glad that Chief is getting better results and in way less time than it used to. That and lighting was the primary reason for the switch initially.

Yes I agree, but the client asked for wood

-
Perry,
That one was in the texture.

Mike,
Yes it was a copy of the image used in front and then painstakingly erased to see thru the trees.

I see you commented that it works. try and figure out what's different about the 2. graphics cards, CPU, version of windows? don't know you haven't shared enough info.

does x8 raytrace work?

I am looking for a solution to make the roof look better in raytraces.
Anyone have a trick? Better material textures to make bump and normal maps form?
-
I agree with Michaelgia on setting up the scene.
I have used other programs for raytracing in the past and they all require the scene and lighting set up. Plus texture adjustments.
This is a current work in progress.
One of the challenges I am experiencing in exterior renders is the backdrop image.
I used the Marshes one from the library on this render.
50 passes, used photon mapping, no caustics, rest of settings in pictures
It has to be at the right focal distance from where you want your camera placed in your model.
Also the correct sun angle/direction, time of year, relevant to the location. etc etc.
Does anyone have a suggested site for stock photos to import for backdrops?

I would like to see Subzero and Wolf product lines.

I emailed my request!
Thank you to all that are pushing this along!

Make it slab on grade on main floor, then add the 2 walls on floor 0 under the slab. use a section camera to adjust the height of the walls.
Actually it may be easier to, make it a basement room with the stem wall height that you want the 2 walls to be, then make the other 2 walls invisible.

Newell,
I used a skylight set to a hole. (uncheck skylight in dbx) Then in a elevation determined height above floor for 30" above ridge. In this case 222" above. Set ceiling height in the room to 222". The 2 side walls in dbx set balloon thru ceiling to get them to reach the roof.

try a different stone, the image of the texture is the problem. to low a resolution.

It has gone back to not saving! I went to browser to type a report, stopped typing when I thought it was working. Then went back to it and it didn't work again.
I see why you were going crazy.

well, upon further testing. I did a save as a new name and everything works as it should here, set my auto save to 1 minute, auto archive to hourly.

I can confirm the same behavior on here! will report now.
CHIEF ONLY RAY TRACING
in General Q & A

Christina, very nice work. kudo's to you!
I was curious if I missed something about running multiple ray traces, in sequence? How'd you do that?
My fav is the overhead view of the backyard veranda design! I really like your design & layout! It feels like a fun place to be on a summers evening!
I also like the pano of the kitchen, it does take the place of at least 3 view point renders!
oh and thank you again for the sun angle map, I remember when you shared it last time! thx again
