Great job Jon ! I love it!

I had the same issue yesterday morning. (~30 seconds is an eternity on a computer) I thought it was my computer acting up!
Rebooted several times, checked task manager and the process was running but not the application.
It finally opened after shutting the computer off and I walked away cursing till about 8:15 central.
I like Jon's thought about a fail safe,
How about a password access with a challenge question as backup?

I think Its certainly close enough for approximate terrain modeling.
Its an easy way to make a terrain in your plans.
It used to take me quite a bit of time to get half way decent results from chiefs tools and images of elevation maps from google and county websites..

Hey gang,
Glad it worked for you Bruce & Mike. Wow Bruce 500 point markers, that took a few minutes.
Scott & Perry
Navigate to your lot. zoom in so you can see lot boundary lines.
Place about 100 + markers over your lot or area. Chief extrapolates the contours better with more points.
Then export the waypoints.
Then import the gpx file into chief using the gps import function. Rebuild terrain and presto!
Here is a file that I made about 220 or so points. It is in Steamboat CO.

I messed with it for a bit. It wasn't liking the walls only on 2nd flr.
As you said no finished bottom to floor platform. I didnt try building the framing though. Maybe thats the answer.
I would stick with your approach of soffits and solids.

Hi Bruce,
I have had success with this gps data using this website. http://www.geoplaner.com/
Type in your address or cordinates, start adding waypoints around your property and export in .gpx to import into chief.
It works really well, at least did for me.

Scott,
I did the following to get it to work.
Open attic wall dbx and uncheck the no locate and room def options.
Increase 2nd floor open below room ceiling height to 548".

General venting, trying to use this yesterday
I don't think the bay, and bow units work very well at all.
The exterior casings will not connect even with the no framing between command checked.
I cannot resize the side windows to be big enough to connect to the center picture unit. Even with ignore casing for opening resize checked off.
Hey Joe, how do/did you make custom units.

+18, as in 18 is the number of years I have been using Chief! and stairs are still an issue.

Mike
Go to the roof tools, fix all roof command.
Add your freeze board there and it will place freeze on all roof planes.

"This took us down an annoying detour..."
So why not update to the *.fbx interchange format?

Justin,
How did you get that topo data out of Earth pro?
-
Thank you Greg need this every now and then!
-
Kjell,
Looks great! how are the mountains done?
-
when roof plane is selected, zoom in to label. there is a grab handle in the label text, grab and move.

Larry,
I found an invisible wall inside your kitchen at the bench location. deleted that wall and no more orange wall outside.
The wall type was interior white fill.
As for the framing of the deck. I would use a backup file to copy, paste in place.
I always make sure once the deck is closed into a room, to open dbx and check (keep framing after deck is deleted.) then uncheck the auto feature.
That way my custom adjustments to framing, posts, and footings are kept.
GPS Elevation Data as Terrain Input

Rich I actually went around the perimeter first and then made rows up and down on screen. Even added a few randomly at the end to fill in a couple spots.
I just tried this to see it again.
open geoplaner and upload the file I shared. It will fill in the points in order of there original clicking order.
