  1. Window and door schedules (which is mainly what I have the custom object fields for) show all the info as before. It is just in the new "open object" dialog in the library that doesn't show the values or allow me to change values in the custom object fields. That new "open object" feature in the library is something I'm really excited about and was hoping I could edit those custom objects directly in the library. Still very useful!
  2. Is there a reason why the custom object field info doesn't show up in the dialogue when directly opening to edit from the user library? When I place the objects into a plan, the custom fields I entered in x10 all display correctly, but are not showing up inside the dialog of my library. I have also tried creating a new item with the custom object info and saving back into the library to see if it would show up - but it still does not. Just wondering if this is a bug or not
  3. Again the text displays correctly - but only when I select something is when the fill shows up. Just tried the select all - still didn't work. Maybe a bug or something, or an obscure setting somewhere
  4. That is what seems to be happening. I checked in the x11 layout as well - same white fill. I use a white background in my x10 layout and selected dimensions on the layout show a black background. Thanks for all the input I did try importing defaults as well as opening a completed plan I had done previously. Sample Plan.plan
  5. I changed the text, dimension, and window label text style defaults to transparent. Still not working. The white blotted out text only shows when I select an item such as window, elevation camera, dimension, etc. I keep trying to change different settings, but still can't come up with a solution.
  6. That's the first place (Preferences>Appearance>Colors) I checked. All of my old settings/colors have migrated correctly from x10, but for some reason those selected/active items are "blotted out" in white. In x10 these items didn't have the fill displayed just transparent (black) background.
  7. Is there a setting in X11 version to change or turn off selection fill for selected objects and dimensions? I use a black background and the new version is highlighting certain objects when selected with a white fill background(ie - dimensions, labels, temp dimension)
  8. That was my suspicion. I was playing around with some macros, but with my limited knowledge I didn't get far. Thanks
  9. To all of the brilliant minds... Is there any way to "auto-generate" a schedule like this? - I can get interior room areas easily, but is there a way to calculate 8% and 4% of each area respectively for light and vent requirements? - I have custom object fields on all my windows and doors that include the (1) glass area and (2) vent area. Is it possible to calculate all the (1) light and (2) vent included from each room? I have an excel spreadsheet I plug in the numbers for the required areas and then manually put them in chief, but just looking to save some time if possible I have attached a simple plan with the window, door, and light-vent schedules if that helps Light-Vent.plan
  10. Anyone have a preferred program they use to convert a pdf file to a .dwg file. I am looking for an inexpensive one.
  11. You can also resize in layout by holding the SHIFT key and selecting (or reselecting) the layout box - the small handle on the top will now resize the view.
  12. I am still using x9, even though I downloaded x10 to experiment with. Now I can't remotely deactivate the x9 license. What happens during beta testing on the next version? We lose the previous version's ability to deactivate remotely while Chief is still working out problems? THIS NEEDS TO BE CHANGED!!! Don't try to fix what isn't broken PLEASE!
  13. My biggest concern is the other previous versions I had (7&8) can't remotely deactivate the license. I hope they fix this. It is much easier to deactivate online for me, because it never fails - I forget to do it.
  14. What happened to the online manage active licenses page under my account? Did this get eliminated or moved somewhere else? How do I release a license on a different computer remotely?
  15. I have been having a problem with my story pole dimensions. I have them locating my top of slab, top of subfloor, and rough ceiling levels. I then send them to layout, so far so good. I will go back to a plan to make changes and discover later that certain story pole dimensions will randomly eliminate the first floor system. I thought maybe it did this because I made some changes to my basement level room labels (changing them to finished areas) but I know this time I didn't do anything to the lower level. Is this a program glitch or am I doing something to cause this? FYI - I draw my foundation/basement on level 0, could that be causing the issue?
  16. In X10 I am getting extra lines in my openings in deck railings anyone have a solution for this? First pic is X9 second is X10 showing the extra lines inside the opening.
  17. Not sure if this is related or not. I use a lot of the same windows (Andersen or Pella), so in Version X9, I created a library of windows of standard sizes (ie. Andersen TW3046) I include the glass and vent areas of each window, so I created a new sub category in the components called GLASS AREA and VENT AREA with the area sizes for that specific window in the description. (Pic #1) By doing this I can choose that specific window with the preset rough opening, egress, and glass size and vent area and it automatically puts it in my schedule. (Pic #2) Now in Version x10 they added the custom fields under the window specification dialog which is helpful, but it doesn't show my values from the description. Is there a text macro I can use to make it show up in my schedules of all the windows I have created in my library? Or do I have to redo my library items with the values manually inserted into the window specification dialog? One other observation, when I pull in an X9 finished drawing, the schedule shows the glass and vent values correctly and even in the window specification dialog. Adding a new window (exactly the same) from the library doesn't show the glass and vent values in either the schedule or dialog.
  18. I have tried, it is an older oce plotter. I have tried to walk through several different settings with him to fix it, but without success. I have even tried printing to a "color" or pdf to see if that would work with white fills. No luck. We have a little newer oce plotter, and we don't have any trouble printing.
  19. Thank you, that would save some time. I was hoping there was a setting or a toggle somewhere that I was missing.
  20. Is there anything I can do to remove the fills for all symbols in an existing plan, such as plumbing fixtures, kitchen appliances, etc. (other than opening up each one individually) I have a builder who prints out his plans from pdfs, but all the filled items print out black, no matter what color I have them filled with (white OR same as background)
  21. Good to know, thank you - still getting used to the different handles
  22. Yeah, concentric is what I was looking for. Multiple copy and transform replicate appear to produce the same radius as their original. I was using the move handle instead of the resize handle for the concentric edit behavior - which produces a similar result to the copy and replicate methods. Thanks again.
  23. Thanks, I had tried the concentric edit behavior before - it would have helped if I grabbed the right edit handle.
  24. Is there an easy way to make cad arcs parallel? I've been drawing two circles with the arc I want and just tracing over them with the arc line tool, seems to me there should be a parallel offset or snap or something. What am I missing?
  25. The client is able to click "load model", but it remains on the load screen without showing any progress on the white bar below the graphic even after 20 minutes. No error message.
