Make sun intensity Zero.

Yes, decrease the sun intensity. Sun - 3 sky - 0.5

You can also eliminate light bleeds by repositioning the sun direction.

By lowering the intensity of the sun, I was able to decrease some bright spots in only 11 passes, it could be gone with more.

Please do share your settings, I also need to improve mine. I tried putting in volumetric sunlight effect with that scene but scrapped it as I thought it did not look good.
