@Renerabbittso what I did was adjust the script so instead of splitting using a . it splits on a dash and then changed the known input and seperated the degrees minutes and seconds with a hypen rather than a period and that fixed.

so the line in the script post adjustment is

    $latitude_degree.split('-').map(&:to_f)

Not sure if this is an x15 x16 issue but the additional digits after the period were throwing it off. Now when I place a marker over the own it gives the same 3 decimal precision as the known.

Good Job..I just changed my own version to use spaces instead of hyphens since space are recognized by the program for minutes seconds etc in case you ever want to expand the function

Nice touch.  Where do you get your people from?  I've searched, and there are a lot of sites dedicated to people, situations, etc.  So it's hard to just pick one without asking a reputable person, as in you, who they'd recommend.

    I make them :)

It is actually a reflection that looks like OSB.  Change the material to a matte finish or change the roughness to 100% using the rainbow tool, and it goes away.

This looks like it might be one of my free textures i give out, not a reflection, its part of the effect of having a really effective normal map, same goes for interior flooring or siding
You can do as ahomes suggested though I would use a metal texture instead

    Hi

How do install recessed / pot lights  in a shed roof eave??
I've tried installed in plan view but they end up as ground path lights

    Thanks in advance

    Levina

past inside and drag outside and you will need to set some options for them to be flush mount if they arent already, or define a shed room

Is there a setting to avoid the overwhelming size of temporary dimension arrows as I zoom into a selected object?

    image.thumb.png.e099eb6ef8a342ff59fc2babe037641b.png

change your dimension default from the active dimension default control drop down and submit a feature request

I have all schedules in one cad detail named "SCHEDULES."  I zoom in to the schedule I want, then send current view to layout, adjust scale and box perimeter.

Since I know where the other schedules are in the cad detail, I can cut and paste the same box and simply slide the box perimeter to bring the desired schedule into view, OR return to the detail zoom to desired schedule and repeat.

Added bonus, on new floorplans I can cut and ctrl-v paste the schedules from one plan to the new plan's cad detail also named SCHEDULE and they repopulate with that plans data.

By using the same detail name, opening an earlier layout and changing the plan file name to the new plan causes all schedules within the layout itself to re-populate, only caveat is adjusting boxes if a plan has more items to display than the current box location allows.

If you use the same camera names you can cut and paste them as well and they will update to match the plan name as well.

this method is actually significantly slower in load times...also much quicker in general to put all details in the same xy position so you can simply relink a layout box and having things already centered. Anyway just an FYI, system speed is effected when you have all schedules in one view

I just bought a new expensive laptop thinking it will reduce lag on bigger files. The new one is the MSI Titan 18, i9-14900HX, 32BG RAM, 2TB SSD and a RTX 4080 graphics card, I'm not worried about price if it will cut down on lag time. My old laptop is almost 5 years old and is a Acer Nitro 5 i7-10750H, 16GB RAM and a GTX 1650 Ti graphics card. In a 3D view the old one out performs the new one and to me this makes no sense at all. On large files is where the difference is. On smaller files both laptops are quick.

On large files, moving a window up or down in 3D takes the old laptop 4.5 seconds to complete while the new one is at 6.5 seconds. When dragging a material region up or down both laptops are at 10 seconds to load. How can this happen? The MSI is significantly more powerful than the Acer.

Moving things in plan view the new laptop is slightly faster than the old one. Also opening a 3D camera is slightly quicker on the new one but moving things in 3D are slower. In 2D elevation views the old laptop has the same times as moving things in 3D. While the new laptop cuts the time down in half compared to being in a 3D view. Even though things are quicker in plan view and 2D elevations I was expecting it to be a lot better in 3D. I do a lot of work in 3D so was hoping it would be better. I could change how I work but I'd rather not.

I've went back to the computer store and they couldn't make sense of it either. I will call the Chief Architect customer service line tomorrow.

If anyone has any idea as to why it's slower in 3D please let me know! The file is to large to attach, I understand with a large file there will be lag but it's odd that my old one is faster in 3D than the new one.

Is this truly apples to apples? also what drive are you running on the old one, one hard drive on the new one?
are all rendering settings the same on both machines for all views?
what do you mean by large files? whats the poly count?
are you comparing vector views or raster views?

No.  I just enter the label and use that.  ie:

    • Glass Railing

welp this only works with solid walls since its using drywall for the calc but here ya go:
