ECIDesigner
Newbie question here! Can someone please share how to add 2 different fabrics on one chair? I would like to use one fabric on the chair back and a different fabric on the seat bottom. TIA!!
DavidJPotter
That is totally dependant upon the quality of the furniture symbol and its Materials Tab. Who ever made the symbol assigned the layers to it that can accept and display individual materials or not. If the symbol allows several materials then you can, if it does not, you cannot easily do so. Symbols offered by Chief Architect Inc are usually pretty good for that, symbols from 3D Warehouse are a complete gamble relative to quality (you get what you pay for...) Alaskan_Son
Even if your symbol does not have different materials for the different components doesn't necessarily mean all is lost. Depending on the symbol you can place it in a blank plan, apply one of your desired materials, use the delete surfaces tool, and create a new symbol. Repeat the process but for the other surfaces this time and then place both of those symbols into a blank plan perfectly aligned so that they appear to be a single item and then create a new symbol. That's the gist anyway. Won't work for every situation. Show me which symbol and maybe I'll make a quick video.
