Adding text to framing plans

I'm new to Chief, I'm using X-8.

I'm trying to add text to the framing plan. When I do the text from the floor plan is turned on. I created a layer

called "framing text" and made that the active layer. As soon as pick the text button it changes the layer back to the "text" layer, which is the layer that the text from the floor plan is on.

How do I get the program to stay on the active layer "framing text" when I pick the text button and not switch to

the default "text" layer.

Or are you guys adding the framing text after you send the framing plan to the layout page.

You should spend a little time to learn to use Annotation Sets.

In the meantime, just double click on the dimension or text tool you're using and set the layer in there. This will change the layer your text or dimensions are placed on. OR you can also place all those annotations and then group select and put them into their own layer.

The Current CAD layer is for CAD only and not text or dimensions.
