dnpayne
Hey everyone. I've played around with some other home design software in the past (softplan, etc.) and I've recent just picked up Chief Architect. I've been decent at figuring things out, but I'm having issues with my roof and stair configuration. The roof. It's fairly simple, but I'm having issues getting the gables correct. I basically want to define the exact location, but it seems to be expanding the gable over a larger area. Stairs. I have a simple fold back stairway with a landing. The one addition is that I have another entry point off the landing into the kitchen. I can't seem to add in the secondary stairs to connect right with the landing. any help would be appreciated!! Rosco2017
Hi. Have you watched any of the help videos? Maybe post the plan and I guarantee you'll get better help then just explaining your situation. Have a great day!
Mark3D
Gable In the roof tools there is a roof gable line tool if you only want a part of a wall to be a gable it should be explained in the help read the help on stairs if you can't access the videos
dnpayne
Sorry, I was at work when I originally posted. Here is a snippet of the stairs and front view. The stairs should have a secondary run off the corner and turn into toward the kitchen. The front view - If you look at the entry way, there should be a gable over that and then the bump out right next to it on the left, there should only be a gable over that. Currently when I switch to gables it puts it over the whole thing similar to what the hip is doing.
dnpayne
Bump. Any help on this would be much appreciated.
KilgoreTrout
You can have two stairs go up to and join with a landing. You will need to adjust the shape of your landing (using the break tool) to give you a straight edge where you want it to join and then you need to draw the new stair going up to the landing. dnpayne
Ahh, nice. It looks like I almost have it. There seems to be a weird glitch now. 1.) I'll need to remove the railing where the open landing going down is. 2.) see the plan line snippet, it's doing a weird fold over line on the drawing. Which, seems to be causing an odd railing render in the 3d view .
dnpayne
Ok, I almost have this figured out. I have everything connected. The only issue I'm running into is that now the main set of stairs is getting out of wack. The treads are off and it's floating in mid air. See snippets. It;s messing up the run and lengths. KilgoreTrout
Not sure why it's doing that. It could be that you turned off auto adjust heights and that caused the stair start to be floating. It could just be Chief messing up. If you post the plan, I'm sure some one could figure it out though. If all else fails, there's always tech support.
