PitMan71
When I select a material in the Library in Chief Architect X18, the preview window is completely black in Physically Based mode. Switching that window back to Standard rendering makes the preview visible again. Physically Based rendering works fine everywhere else—it only seems to happen in this little preview window. Has anyone else run into this or know what might be causing it? This is happening with all material previews that i can tell. I am on the most recent build of X18 28.2.0.62. And on the most recent Nvidia drivers. thanks
CarrieS
When you installed the NVIDIA drivers did you choose the option for clean install?

I believe the ray trace settings are based on your tempolate plan, and so you may have some bad default settings for raytrace for the preview to render from
CarrieS
Is it plan specific? If so, can you send it into our Support Center so I can take a closer look? We've also seen strange behavior when going through a docking station or if your monitor is connected to the Motherboard instead of the graphics card. I might suggest trying resetting templates via Edit > Preferences > Reset Options > Reset Templates. Keep in mind if you modified any of the OOB templates, this does overwrite those with the newest OOB templates, so if you want to preserve those, I'd recommend moving a copy of those templates elsewhere so you can bring them back in if desired. CarrieS
Hi Shane, I'm looking into the problem. we've found several workarounds but not the core problem just yet. Option1 The quickest to get you moving on your project would be to go to Default Settings> Camera Tools> Full Camera. On the Camera panel of the Full Camera Defaults switch the Lighting from "Automatic" to "Light Set" and use the Default Light Set. Option 2 The problem seems to involve the outside light fixtures on the left side of the plan. I have found that deleting them resolves the issue though it doesn't appear to be just a single item or even specific items outside of a combination of those fixtures. "Flood Light (Motion)" "Caged Lantern Sconce" "Barn sconce 11 inch dia x 12.625" We'll continue poking at the problem to see what we can find out and send it over to our developers for resolution as necessary.
