Greg_B
I can't remember why I decided to upgrade to CA from Home Designer Pro 2012 a dozen years ago but think it was the catalogs and the ability to print on large format printers, which I have at work for SolidWorks. My CAD computer at home & work were high end at the time due to SolidWorks, so were later upgraded in place to Win10. Now replaced by newer computers with Win11 and CA x6 installed. All of the 3D items I created in Sketchup and imported are in the plans and I can duplicate them or move them, but they aren't in my User Catalog on a new plan and all the Core Catalogs, Bonus Catalogs, and Manufacturer's Catalogs are empty. CA seems to have the core catalogs available only back to x7. I have lots of backups of the previous computer but not sure about backups of the files to get this back to operational. Looks like they put a lot of this in C:\Program Files\....... and C:\ProgramData\...., areas not normally backed up, but I probably have them somewhere. I use this rarely, mostly looking at existing files and rearranging items to fit, which is why I didn't realize I didn't have a lot of what I needed for a few years. Every few years, I need to create new plans, this time when moving a business. I had to create a lot of commercial building items that are very different from the house items in CA. I can't find any .CALIB files to import again and the user catalog has source files all over the place. Any help greatly appreciated. Edited to add: Interesting, it posted my sig from a dozen years ago and I can't see how to change that. DBCooper
Do you still have the disks for X6? I can't remember if the core catalogs came on the disk or not but you should try there first If not, then you might want to try tech support. Just because they are not listed here: https://www.chiefarchitect.com/support/article/KB-02899/manually-installing-core-catalogs-for-chief-architect-premier.html, they might still be available and they might be able to send you link. madcowscarnival
OP, I just tried to load my libraries for X6 on my current machine; they are downloadable content and I was unable to fetch them (likely source files from CA no longer available). I'll check my home office computer tonight; fingers crossed I have the libraries downloaded there. I'll post back.
Greg_B
Thanks for the help. The files to install are still on my account at CA. They even have the core libraries available, but only back to x7. Even if it wasn't, I still have all software stored on multiple backups with the serial numbers to reinstall. So, I installed it easily on the new Win11 computers, it is just missing some items. I should have added any library files to my archives for reinstall. I've looked at the default directories where CA x6 stores files on the new Win11 computer, and some are not normally backed up. I pulled up iDrive "complete" backup done on that computer when it was running Win7 and when it was running Win10, and those directories are not backed up. Lesson learned. madcowscarnival
So are you all set with the core libraries on X6? I didn't follow with the backups and iDrive stuff. I do have my core library from X6.
