DRyeHD
I'm doing an addition for a customer and they want to see a 3D model of the whole thing. I thought I could do this within the CA software, and I'm sure I can, but don't know how. I'd like to do an exterior flyover and include both the as built and the remodel. I didn't know how to go about searching the disscussions on something like this. Could someone steer me in the right direction? Damon, You might find something of use in Chief's tutorial video section. That's where I'd start at least. https://www.chiefarchitect.com/videos/watch/19/virtual-walkthroughs.html?playlist=102 Jim
Rookie65
How did you draw the plan? Did you draw the existing, and then the addition? I save one version as the existing. Then I will copy the plan as the proposed and draw the addition on to it. Then you'll have the full house. If you've drawn them as separate plans, you should be able to copy and paste all of floors from one to the other. The kicker will be if the floors are on different levels. Meaning if the 1st floor is not set to "0" on both plans, aligning will be difficult. Edited Monday at 08:14 PM by Rookie65 Word change
DRyeHD
@JKEdmo It looks like it's not possible since they are two different .pln files. There are ways to combine them but for a quick fix, I dispayed both on my screen in CA in standard mode, started it rotating, and took a slow motion video with my phone. That was good enough for what my customer wanted.
DRyeHD
@Rookie65 I draw the as built then "save as" the remodel. Then I reference the as built in the reference display DBX. I can see that the way you do it, that you would be able to produce a flyby video. I tried copying both to a third plan but after 3 or 4 attempts, I did the phone video as described to @JKEdmo. The method I use is one that I learned from the CA videos but even they may suggest multiple ways of doing it. Thanks for your input.
jparker7099
Can you open your as-built as in a 3d view, then create a symbol of the entire 3d model of the as built, then place the as-built 3d symbol in the remodel file?
