"Tweaked" Model Question

Hello,

I was working on a sloped terrain this morning in perspective full overview.  I went to adjust a retaining wall height and apparently grabbed the wrong handle of something, causing my entire first floor building height to reduce by 2 feet throughout.  This really tweaked the model.  I tried to undo / undo / undo several times but with the no effect.  And that's when the "panic" started setting in...

Anyways, what I figured out was the handle adjustment had somehow changed my 1st floor / floor level / ceiling height in Default Settings.  I was able to correct the value and everything returned back to normal.

I wouldn't have thought a handle grab in 3D view could cause such an overall change to a default setting.  I'm wondering for my own education what I grabbed could have caused this?  (Like an exterior room, or?).

Thanks again,

Jim

I think you already answered your question.  It is really easy to accidently select the exterior room when you are in a camera view.  You can do this by clicking on something like a floor or ceiling surface or just by hitting "next" after selecting a wall.  It's also a bit hard to tell the difference between selecting a wall and a room if you are not paying attention to things like which handles you have or what the status bar says.  At any rate, if you select the exterior room and drag the top handle up/down, then you will change your default room heights for the whole floor.

Thanks for confirming.  That's pretty wild, but good to know.

One thing still confuses me is why didn't Undo correct this?  Are changes to default settings not affected by undo?

P.S. Once again the forum proves to be a great resource.

Not sure why undo didn't work for you.   I just tried it in a simple plan and it seemed to work fine.  You might want to play around with it and see if you can repro the problem and then report it to chief.  My guess is you won't be able to so I would just blame the gremlins.

Thanks again for your insight.
