EXPOSED RAFTERS

Is there a way to expose rafters tails on one part of a roof plane and keep the remaining "boxed" as shown? Client wants exposed rafter tails on the porch only.

Something like this? I made a copy in place of the side roofs and adjusted the parts over the porch to be separate roof plains. Then set up the roof planes for rafter tails.

I was thinking of doing the same thing but wondered how the roof framing would generate. Thanks

I would pull the porch in 12" on each side and drop the ceiling ht and the pitch..... Would kind look like the attached, but the main eave would be lower and the porch roof would pitch back on the main hip roof. Anyway, just a thought.

You could mark that room space as no ceiling for this room and create a soffit for the part you want covered.

Thanks guys, I have to leave the pitch the same as shown. If I do two roof planes butted up to each other the boxed eave won't close I bet but I will add some pics on here once I get it done.

Not my favorite but it don't look too bad. These plans are for a builder I work with and it will be a spec house and he knows what he is doing so I am sure he will make it look good.
